Third Person's POV
Monday.
Becky yawned while on the bus going to the University. She didn't have enough sleep last night because she polished her letter to perfection before sending it to the dean.
Her eyes can't seem to remain opened and the yawn kept on coming every few minutes. She looked at her watch and decided to take a quick nap. Her father's car broke down before even leaving the driveway so she had to ride the bus.
She leaned on the window and was about to doze off when she saw the race track where they went to the other day. Right before she close her eyes she saw a familiar motorcycle cruising towards the entrance of the race track. She blinked twice but when she looked again, the motorcycle is already gone.
She just shrugged and closed her eyes to sleep.
"Becky? What's gotten in to you?"
Lin's voice zapped Becky's brain back to consciousness. She blinked as though she just woke up from sleep.
"Sorry. I haven't slept well last night."
She said before adjusting the pile of text book she's carrying in her arms. Lin stopped her from walking down the corridor and took both of her shoulders in her hands.
"That's why you look like a zombie."
She said while looking at her almost pale face. Becky was about to say something when one of their professors called out to them.
"Armstrong! Just the person I was looking for."
Prof. Andrews said before stopping in front of them. Lin let Becky go and smiled widely at the russet haired man towering over them.
"Hi, Professor Andrews. You look dashing as ever."
Lin said flirtatiously. The man just smiled a little bit before turning his attention on Becky.
"Dr. Austin will be announcing her choice on Wednesday. Also, if you're interested, she will be here until then to accept students who wishes to get a consult. I just thought you'd be interested."
He said. Becky just nodded and smiled. Professor Andrews excused himself after.
"You don't look as enthusiastic as before. Is there something wrong?"
Lin said while looking at her friend. Becky just looked at her and shrugged before walking.
"I'm just really tired."
She said before yawning. They reached the hall where they will be having their lecture. They sat side by side without saying a word to each other.
Becky started reading her textbook while Lin was just on her phone as usual.
"Oh."
Lin suddenly said. Becky turned her head to her.
"What?"
She said. Lin looked at her as if she did not realize that she said something.
"Oh. Nothing. It's just unusual that there's a race on tonight. It's a school night."
She said while going back to her phone. Becky looked at her waiting for her to say more. The news seemed to excite her but she didn't show it. She just went back to her textbook and pretended to read.
My phone chimed. It's my dad.
He is reminding me of my counsin's wedding this weekend.
I almost forgot. I had to pick up the dress that I will be wearing.
