Becky's POV
For two days, my focus was on the application letter that I will be submitting for the Aus-ternship. I typed at least four drafts but still cannot decide on which to send.
I'm re-reading my last draft when my phone rang loudly. I almost jumped from shock when ít disturbed the silence of the room.
I looked at my phone and saw who's calling. I groaned loudly before answering.
"Becky! I'm on my way to your house!"
Lin's loud and excited voice filled my ear. She didn't even gave me a chance to say anything before she ended the call. I looked at the time.
"Shit."
I mumbled. I immediately saved my work and closed my laptop. I quickly washed my face and pull whatever clothes I can from my closet and immediately dressed up.
I quickly checked myself in the mirror before going out of my room. Loud honking can be heard from the living room where my mom and dad are.
Lin already called my parents to ask for their permission so I just quickly kissed them both goodbye.
"Take care! Have fun and no drinking!"
My dad said while I was walking out of the door. I just shook my head and smiled. He knows I don't drink but would still say that every time I go out with Lin.
Between me and her, she's the party animal.
I rode the car and Lin immediately drove like crazy. She stepped on the gas pedal so hard, I almost banged my face on the dashboard.
"Hey! Careful."
I said, annoyed. I pulled the seatbelt and locked it before holding on to something. She just laughed and stuck her tongue out to me.
"I don't know why we're friends."
I said while holding on to my seat tightly. She flipped her hair before answering.
"Because you're boring and I'm fun. Balance of nature."
She said laughing. I rolled my eyes at her.
We arrived safely and in one piece at the race track after 20mins. The place was packed with people of all sorts. My entire body turned cold upon hearing the sound of motorcycles.
The awful sound that it makes when the throttle is squeezed tightly makes me shiver. I sat there in horror while Lin parked the car. She turned the engine off and looked at me.
"Oh my God, Becky. You're pale. Are you okay?"
She looks genuinely concerned. I just managed a small smile and a nod. She touched my arm.
"Are you still not over it?"
She asked. I swallowed hard before shaking my head slowly. She bit her lip looking conflicted. I took a deep breath before speaking.
"Just give me a moment. I— I just need to— breathe."
I said while trying my best tp calm down. My chest is starting to feel tight. I tried to swallow but it was hard to even do that. I feel like i'm going to puke.
"Oh no. I'm really sorry. I can take you home, if you like?"
She said. I looked at her, took a deep breath and then shook my head. I took my seatbelt off and then took a deep breath again. Somehow, my anxiety calmed down a bit.
