Is it casteism when someone claims that all castes are equal and deserving of respect, but their actions contradict that belief?
For instance, my sister, who is almost 30, is under pressure from our family to get married. My parents created a matrimony profile for her, but when it came to choosing preferences, they specifically listed that the groom must be a Brahmin.
If they receive a proposal from someone of a different caste, they outright decline it without even considering the person's qualities. Isn't this rejection solely based on caste—without giving the individual an opportunity—an act of discrimination?
