It was late June, the air warm and humid, signaling the start of the pool season. Morning sunlight streamed through the curtains of the shared apartment as Masha stood by Lucifer's bed, arms crossed and an exasperated look on her face. The boy, with his long white hair sprawled messily across the pillow, was fast asleep, oblivious to the world around him.
"Lucifer," Masha called, her voice tinged with a mix of amusement and irritation. "Wake up already! It's almost noon!"
Lucifer didn't stir, mumbling something incoherent in his sleep and hugging his pillow tighter.
Masha rolled her eyes and leaned over him, grinning mischievously. "If you don't wake up right now, I'll kiss you."
Still, no reaction.
"Alright," she said with a smirk, "you asked for it." She bent down and gently pressed her lips to his cheek. The softness of the kiss seemed to register because Lucifer's eyes fluttered open, confusion written all over his face.
"Morning, Sleeping Beauty," Masha teased, standing upright with her hands on her hips.
Lucifer blinked a few times before realization dawned on him. His cheeks flushed pink. "Did you just...?"
"I did," she said matter-of-factly. "Now get up before I decide to do it again."
Later that day at school, as the two sat together during lunch, one of the student council girls approached them. She had a bright smile and a friendly demeanor. "Hey, Lucifer! Hey, Masha! We're hosting a pool party this weekend at the community pool. Would you two like to join us?"
Masha looked at Lucifer, who was mid-bite and hadn't yet processed the invitation. "Sure, we're in," she said on their behalf.
Lucifer finally swallowed his food and gave her a mock glare. "You could've at least let me say yes first."
"But you were going to say yes anyway," Masha replied with a grin, and he couldn't argue with that.
The weekend arrived, and the pool party was in full swing. The bright sun and cheerful chatter of their classmates set the perfect scene. Lucifer, with his long white hair tied back into a loose ponytail, stood by the pool, adjusting his swim shorts while Masha walked up beside him in her vibrant swimsuit.
As the girls gathered around, one of them nudged Lucifer. "You know, you'd look adorable in a swimsuit—a girl's swimsuit," she teased, eyeing his slim build and delicate features.
Lucifer groaned, rubbing the back of his neck. "No way. My limit's the maid outfit, and even that's pushing it."
"Aww, come on! Just once?" another girl chimed in, batting her eyelashes.
"Not happening," he said firmly, though his cheerful smile remained. "You'll just have to deal with me like this."
Masha smirked, crossing her arms. "They'll live. Besides, Lucifer's too stubborn to cave, even to flattery."
"Exactly," he agreed with a wink.
The group dove into the pool, splashing water at each other as laughter echoed across the area. Lucifer quickly became the prime target of the girls, who found his reactions hilarious. Masha, not one to be left out, joined in, aiming a particularly big splash at Lucifer.
"Hey!" he shouted, sputtering as he wiped water from his face. "Masha, you traitor!"
"All's fair in pool wars!" she shot back, laughing as she swam away.
Lucifer grinned mischievously, chasing her through the water. The playful chaos continued until one of the girls, emboldened by the fun, decided to pull a prank. She snuck up behind Lucifer and tugged at his shirt.
"Gotcha!" she said, pulling his shirt off in one swift motion.
Lucifer turned bright red, covering his chest instinctively. "Hey, give that back!"
"Not until we have some fun first!" she declared, tackling him into the water. The others joined in, tickling him mercilessly. His laughter filled the air as he tried to wriggle free.
"Okay, okay, stop! I give up!" he cried, barely able to catch his breath.
But the teasing didn't end there. One of the girls leaned in and planted a playful kiss on his cheek, giggling. "There! That's your punishment for being too cute."
The others quickly followed suit, leaving Lucifer with a face covered in kiss marks. "You're all impossible," he muttered, though his good-natured smile betrayed his words.
Masha, watching from the side, shook her head. "You brought this on yourself, you know."
"Thanks for the support," he replied dryly, earning a laugh from her.
Later, the group decided to hold a cook-off, with Lucifer as the designated judge. The girls took turns preparing dishes in the nearby picnic area, each one eager to impress him.
"Prepare yourself," Masha said confidently as she worked on her dish. "I'm winning this."
Lucifer chuckled, sitting back with his arms crossed. "You talk a big game, but we'll see."
One by one, the girls presented their creations, each feeding him bites with much fanfare. Lucifer's cheerful commentary and thoughtful feedback made the process even more entertaining. When it was Masha's turn, she leaned in close, holding out a spoonful.
"Open wide," she said with a teasing smile.
Lucifer obliged, his eyes lighting up as he tasted her dish. "Okay, I'll admit it. This one's my favorite."
The girls groaned in mock defeat while Masha beamed with pride. "Told you I'd win."
"You're so smug," Lucifer teased, but he couldn't help smiling at her enthusiasm.
The girls, however, weren't about to let her off the hook. "Looks like Lucifer's already picked his wife," one of them teased.
"Yeah, Masha's totally got this in the bag," another chimed in, causing Masha to blush slightly.
"Alright, alright, break it up," Masha said, waving them off. But deep down, she didn't mind the teasing.
Back at the apartment that evening, the playful energy from the day lingered. After dinner, Masha found herself feeling particularly mischievous. She tackled Lucifer onto the bed, straddling him with a grin.
"Masha, what are you—" he started, but she cut him off by tickling his sides mercilessly.
"Payback for all the teasing you let those girls get away with," she declared, laughing as he squirmed beneath her.
"Okay, stop! Mercy!" he pleaded, tears of laughter streaming down his face.
Masha finally relented, but instead of getting up, she leaned down and pressed a kiss to his forehead. "You're mine, you know," she said softly.
Lucifer blinked up at her, his cheeks tinged pink. "You're so weird sometimes."
"Maybe, but you love it," she replied, burying his face in her chest.
"Okay, okay, I surrender," he mumbled, his voice muffled.
Masha's expression softened as she looked down at him. "You remember that promise you made when we were kids? To marry me someday?"
Lucifer glanced up, his blue eyes meeting hers. "Of course I do. You've never let me forget it."
"Good," she said with a smirk. "Because I'm holding you to it."
He chuckled, wrapping his arms around her. "I wouldn't dream of breaking it."
The two stayed like that for a while, the day's excitement giving way to a peaceful calm. As sleep overtook them, Masha couldn't help but feel grateful for moments like these—moments where it was just the two of them, carefree and happy.
Lucifer's soft, even breathing soon lulled her to sleep as well, their bond growing stronger with each passing day.
