As the days passed, the sunlight filtering through the window of his room seemed brighter to Lucifer. The shadows that had once loomed over him began to recede, replaced by fleeting moments of laughter and light. His once-silent tears were now mixed with smiles, and he found himself laughing at Masha's silly jokes, her bright spirit becoming the beacon guiding him through the fog of his sadness.

"Masha, look! I can finally do this!" Lucifer exclaimed one sunny afternoon, sprinting across the small park they often visited. He jumped into the air, attempting a somersault. Although it ended in a clumsy tumble, the giggles that erupted from Masha made it all worth it.

"You're getting better! Just a few more tries, and you'll be a pro!" Masha encouraged, her eyes sparkling with joy. She clapped her hands together, and Lucifer couldn't help but smile wider. It was moments like these that made him feel alive again.

Despite the slow recovery, panic attacks had become less frequent, and his once-blank expressions were now filled with a childlike wonder that had been missing for so long. "I can do this," he whispered to himself one night, a quiet oath that echoed in the recesses of his heart.

One morning, as they walked to school, Lucifer felt a sudden burst of energy. He grabbed Masha's hand and spun her around. "I'm back! The old Lucifer is here!" he declared, laughing uncontrollably. Masha's laughter joined his, filling the air with warmth and happiness.

Her parents noticed the change too. "Look at him, Masha! He's smiling more than ever," her mother said, wiping away tears of joy. Her father chuckled, patting Lucifer on the back. "Keep this up, and you might just be the best student in the class!"

As the first term exam approached, Lucifer threw himself into his studies, determined to excel. "Masha, can you help me with math? I keep getting the fractions wrong," he asked, biting his lip in concentration.

"Of course! Just remember, when you're dividing, you have to flip the second fraction," she replied, pulling out her notebook. The two spent hours studying together, exchanging notes and ideas, their camaraderie solidifying even further.

When the results came in, Lucifer couldn't contain his excitement. "I did it, Masha! I aced it!" he shouted, running through the hallways with his test paper held high. His classmates stared in awe as he celebrated his success, the once-timid boy now exuding a newfound confidence.

"You really are the smartest! I knew you could do it!" Masha beamed, wrapping her arms around him in a tight hug. "Now, we need to celebrate your birthday next week!"

Lucifer's eyes lit up at the thought. "What do you have in mind?"

Masha smiled mischievously. "Just you wait and see!"

As the day of Lucifer's 12th birthday approached, Masha busied herself in the kitchen, baking a cake with her mother. "It has to be perfect! He deserves something special," Masha insisted, her brow furrowed in concentration as she mixed the ingredients.

When the day finally arrived, Masha presented the beautifully decorated cake to Lucifer, who stood in awe. "Masha, it looks amazing!" he gasped, tears welling up in his eyes. "Thank you!"

"You're welcome, Ru-chan!" she giggled, cutting a slice and offering it to him. "Now, open wide!"

Lucifer took a bite, savoring the sweetness. "This is the best cake ever! You have to teach me how to make it," he said, grinning from ear to ear.

Masha's parents watched with pride as their daughter beamed with happiness. "You're both growing up so fast! Before we know it, you'll be off to high school," Masha's father said, chuckling.

Later that evening, Masha led Lucifer to her room, excitement bubbling in the air. "I have one more surprise for you!" She handed him a beautifully wrapped gift.

Lucifer's eyes widened. "You didn't have to get me anything, Masha!" he exclaimed, unwrapping it carefully. Inside lay a soft, plush blanket with a pattern of stars. "It's so soft! Thank you!"

Masha smiled brightly. "I thought it would keep you warm on those chilly nights."

"Can I lay my head on your lap while I take a nap?" Lucifer asked shyly, feeling a sense of comfort wash over him.

"Of course!" Masha replied, settling down on her bed. As he lay there, she began to gently caress his hair, her fingers running through his soft locks.

Lucifer felt a sense of peace enveloping him, and before long, he drifted off to sleep. As he did, he felt a gentle kiss on his cheek, awakening a warm flutter in his chest.

"You've been through so much, Ru-chan," Masha whispered softly, noticing how long his hair had grown. "If you let it grow a little more, you might look like a girl!" she teased lightly, her voice playful.

Lucifer chuckled sleepily, a smile dancing on his lips. "Maybe I should consider that! I could be the most beautiful girl in school," he replied, trying to sound serious but failing miserably.

Her parents peeked in just then, and her father couldn't resist teasing, "Masha, what have you been doing? I think you're grooming your future husband!"

"D-dad!" Masha stammered, her face turning a deep shade of red as she playfully swatted at him. "We're just friends!"

"Just friends, huh?" he chuckled, leaving them to their moment.

The next day, the school announced the upcoming sports festival, excitement buzzing throughout the classrooms. "This is your chance to show everyone what you've got!" Masha encouraged, eyes sparkling with enthusiasm.

"I've never really participated in anything like this before," Lucifer admitted, a mix of nerves and excitement bubbling within him.

"You can do it! Just remember to have fun," Masha reassured him.

As the day of the festival arrived, the atmosphere was electric. Students gathered around the field, their cheers echoing in the air. Lucifer stood at the starting line, heart racing. "I can do this," he whispered to himself, remembering the oath he had made.

With the sound of the whistle, they were off! Lucifer sprinted forward, determination fueling his every move. He could hear Masha cheering from the sidelines, her voice cutting through the crowd like a guiding light. "Go, Ru-chan! You're the best!"

With each race, he pushed himself harder, recalling the laughter they had shared, the moments they had cherished. He felt alive, exhilarated. The final race loomed before him—a relay that would determine the overall champion.

Lucifer dashed across the finish line, breathless but triumphant. The cheers of his classmates rang in his ears as he raised his arms in victory. "You did it, Lucifer! You're the best!" Masha exclaimed, her eyes shining with pride.

Word quickly spread about his impressive performance, and he soon earned the nickname "The White Prince." It was a title he never expected but wore proudly.

As they walked home together that evening, Masha nudged him playfully. "So, are you going to start a fan club now that you're a prince?"

Lucifer laughed, his heart lighter than it had been in years. "Maybe! But only if you promise to be my queen.

Masha giggled, her cheeks flushing with delight. "Deal!"
