They reach the island and Odysseus gets off with Polites. The Captain looks on edge as he looks around, Polites puts a hand on his shoulder and gives him a small smile. "You can relax my friend. I can tell you're getting nervous so do yourself a server and try to relax my friend." Odysseus takes a step away from him, looking at him. "I'm fine Polites" he reassured his best mate.
Hermes looks at Apollo. "Does he look okay to you? He says his fine but does he look fine?" Apollo shrugs. "Not my champion, not my problem" the God of music glance at Hermes and back to the screen. Penelope looked at the screen with more worry, she could tell by the way he gripped his sword that he was still thinking about the infant.
Polites could tell he was lying. "Think of all that we have been through, we'll survive what we'll get into. I know that you're tired of the war and bloodshed, tell me is this how we're supposed to live? Look how you grip your sword, enough said. Why should we take when we could give? You can show a person that you trust them when you stop and lower your guard" he gets it right for Odysseus to lower his sword. "Here we have a chance for some adjustment. Give it a try it's not that hard, I'm telling you this life is amazing when you greet it with open arms. Whatever we face will be fine if we lead it from the heart. Greet the world with open arms" he reasons with his captain. Odysseus puts his weapon away. Small fuzzy creatures pop out the bushes causing Odysseus to draw his weapon again. "Welcome" they say in union.
Some of the mortals and some Goddesses "awed" at the sight of the small fuzzy creatures.
Odysseus takes a step back "Stay back!" He gets in front of his mate. Polites looks at his captain and steps to the side, placing a hand on his arm. "My friend greet the world with open arms" he reminds Odysseus. "We're only here for food" the fuzzy creatures look at the two humans and at each other as they step out of the bushes and a slight step forward. "Food?" They echoed. "Six hundred men are waiting for us to do our faces" they step closer. "Food" got echoed again and Odysseus kept his sword pointed to them. "Stay back I'm warning you. If we don't get back safely, my men will turn this place into blazes." Some fruit gets given to them. "Here you go" they say in union and smile. Polites sees them as no threat and smiles back. "See! This life is amazing when you greet it with open arms. Whatever we face, we'll be fine if we lead it from the heart. No matter the place we can light up the world here's how to start greet the world with open arms" Odysseus looks at the fruit more observant.
Telemachus looks at his father. "How does that taste?" He asks and the man shrugs. "Never ate it" Polites looks confused at his captain. "Why didn't we eat what they gave us?" Odysseus looks at his fallen friend. "There was something wrong with the fruit, I couldn't allow my men to eat it"
Odysseus shakes his head. "My friend I wish that I could say that I agree but looks at the way this fruit is glowing it's filled with glowing seeds. It took me awhile just to notice just what Ind of fruit they eat, it's a lotus..it consumes your mind and never sets you free..that's what we get with open arms" Polites starts to ponder. "Lotus eaters I'd like to show my friend that kindness is great, would you tell me if there's other food to eat?" They look at him. "a Cave" they say excitingly. "A caver? You're saying there's a cave that we could feast and where do we find this food filled cave?" They all point to one direction. "Easy! That way" he does a slight bow. "Thank you" they all smile brighter. "Welcome" he turns back to his Captain. "See, this life is amazing when we greet it with open arms. I see in your face that there's so much guilt inside your heart so why not replace it and light up the world, here's how to start: greet the world with open arms" Odysseus lets out a small sigh. "Greet the world with open arms" he smiles at Polites and the two go back to the ships but not before Odysseus takes some of the lotus fruit. They set sail for east.
"Why did you take the fruit if you knew that you couldn't eat it?" Questioned Eurylochus. "Something told me to do it, like an instinct that said we'll need it" Odysseus explains. "Did we?" Polites asks his captain. Then man looks at him with a sad smile and gives a slight nod. Athena saw the look on her Champion's face and looked away which earned a few looks from the other Gods.
