I narrowly escaped today  for a moment, I thought Mom had caught me. It's not like I don't want to tell my parents about him I do but only when the time is right."I'm currently strolling on the terrace because I can't fall asleep right now."

I was lost in these thoughts when Neera called. We hadn't talked properly in five days since she's been busy with work and she is ceo now. I picked up the call.

"How are you, Ishu?" Neera asked.
"All good! What about you?" I replied.
"Everything's fine here. Tell me, did things move forward or not?" she asked.
"Which things?" I asked, confused.
"Oh, come on, about you and Anirudha" she exclaimed.

I was caught off guard. I hadn't told her yet, but if I didn't now, she'd probably accuse me later of hiding things and give me a lecture like Grandma. So, I decided to tell her.

"What happened? Say something! Hello?" Neera said impatiently.
"Nothing... Neera, the thing is, we're in a relationship," I confessed.
"What?! WHAT?!" she screamed so loudly that I had to move the phone away from my ear.
"Really? When? Where? How? Why didn't you tell me? Start talking!" she demanded in one breath.

"Neeru, breathe! You're not even giving me a chance to speak" I said.
"Fine, fine, I’m calm now. Speak up," she said.
"Okay, but don't interrupt me in between," I warned.
"Okay, go on," she promised.

I told her everything how I saw him with Kaira, how Kaira falsely blamed me, and how Anirudha scolded me instead. I was halfway through the story when she interrupted in anger.

"How dare he yell at you?! I won't leave him!" Neera fumed.

"Neera! Calm down and let me finish. I told you not to interrupt!" I said, frustrated.

"Fine, fine, what happened next?" she asked.

"So, after that argument, I did what I always do when I’m upset I went to the Shiva temple near the river. You know that's my go-to place when I’m down. I sat there for hours, crying. That's when I realized how deeply I felt for him, which is why his words hurt me so much. I stayed there until it got dark.”

"Ishu, were you okay?" Neera asked, concerned.

"Yes, Neera, let me finish!" I replied.

Then I told her everything how Anirudha came looking for me, how he apologized, how he proposed, and why he didn't scold Kaira. I was recounting the story when Neera squealed with excitement.

"That's amazing Now we'll always be together, forever and ever she said.
I smiled and hummed in agreement.

But then she said, "Wait... didn't he have someone special in his life before?"

Her words wiped the smile off my face, and I suddenly felt uneasy.
"Maybe he was just making excuses back then to avoid marriage," I said, trying to sound casual.

"Could be," Neera replied thoughtfully. I hummed in agreement.

"By the way, Ishu, I even asked Anuj about Anirudha's "someone special" she said.

"What did he say?" I asked, curious.
"Nothing much. He just said that Anirudha doesn't like discussing that topic,"she replied

"Okay," I said hesitantly.

"By the way, I can't trust him just like that. I mean, I need to test him to see if he’s right for you or not," Neera said firmly.

"He seems so rude. Even if he's my soon-to-be brother-in-law, I still need to figure out what kind of person he truly is because this involves you," she added.
