I like Conscription Day much better when I'm not falling off a bridge. Not that it hasn't crossed my mind, but I'm trying to not think about those moments. Tairn's already upset having not seen Sgaeyl for five days—a record amount of time in their entire quarter-century bond—and it's definitely making it worse when I think about that day, considering she saved my life.
And here, unlike Resson, my shields are not strong enough to keep him out of my head completely.

I offer a smile as I pass Ridoc in the halls lugging around a few pounds of raw meat to the kitchen. I myself have a cart full of books, tomes, and scrolls. He's be helping the kitchen gather ingredients to feed the new cadets dinner.
I'm on bookkeeping, a duty which was heavily protested by both Violet and the Scribe quadrant as a whole. Give all the records of new cadets to the second-year lightning wielder who's not completely in control of their power yet? Sounds like a bad time.

For me, this is great. I've been meaning to ask Jesinia to look at something for me and I'm hoping in the chaos of today, I'll be able to ask without anyone noticing. Hopefully before Xaden arrives today.
I shiver at the thought of him, but I can't tell if it's anxiety or excitement.

I glance over as Sawyer jogs up to my side with an armful of new scrolls. He leans over to drop them into the cart I'm pushing, walking sideways to not slow me down.
"Professor Devera had some new stuff," he explains to me before standing up again.
"You joining me downstairs?" I ask as we pass the threshold of the Rider's Quadrant into the main hallway.
He nods once. "I can take the cart." I glance down before smiling a bit.
     "Just take the book list."

It's not as long of a trek as I feared it would be. We're in the Archive's massive vault door within a few minutes.
Thankfully, Jesinia is at the table. Not thankfully, there's a red-haired kid by her side.
I bring the cart to a slow stop before the long wooden table we're not allowed to pass. No one is except the scribes themselves.

"Just here to exchange some things," Sawyer chuckles. Jesinia keeps her gaze on me for a moment before noticing his head bobbing and looking his way.
"Good morning," I sign to her.
"Good morning, Cadet. Standard exchange?" she signs back. I nod my head.
"Two scrolls for you. And apologies that Violet couldn't make it." Her face doesn't change, but I know she's a bit sad about it by the way she blinks when she looks down.

The red-haired boy moves from behind the table and begins pulling pieces from within the cart.
"No issue. We wouldn't want to lose so much," she signs. I arch a brow as I set the two book lists down.
     "Lose?"
"We've heard she's yet to manifest a signet. Every Scribe fears her approaching... combustion." I almost laugh as I shake my head, glancing Sawyer's way as he looks between us.
     "Oh, I see."
"Have you all not been warned?" I fight to make myself give a polite smile as my mind races.
     "It didn't cross my mind."
