"Help me!" Rhode Island yelped from the hallway, a big crowd of states trampling over him as they made their way toward the dining room.
Usually, there wouldn't be this many states in one house. They were all strategically placed across the country, housed in different homes, to not only save space but save themselves.
"Maybe you can use your anchor to stay in plahce, Huh, Davey?" Massachusetts snickered.
"Fahk you!" The small voice yelled back.
The voices of the states overlapped each other, a symphony that could be heard in the kitchen.
"Gah...I wish they wood be quiet..." Eleanor huffed. Her hand was on a stirring spoon, twirling it in a bowl of Turkey stuffing.
The kitchen held three states, who all had their hands on various utensils and bowls.
"Ye, well, you can't expeect anytheeng from them," Wisconsin folded a bowl of potatoes.
"Psh," Michigan huffed from beside her, holding a bowl of melted butter. "Why are we doing this again?"
"Why? Because! Everyone says we can't do anytheeng, and this is oor time to proove them wrong!" Heidi said as she tasted the potatoes.
"And how is this helping?" Merrivale huffed.
Eleanor turned around, resting the spoon on the side of the bowl and walking toward the fridge. "Because, they will thank us!"
She opened the fridge and hauled a big, wrapped raw peice of chicken, slamming it down on the ktichen island.
"...You stole the Turkey?!" Merrivale gaped, crossing his arms.
Heidi smiled and patted the Turkey's ass. "We borrowed eet from Texas. He was supposed to cook it this yeer, butttt. yoo know what? Im tired of hiim putting barbeque on everytheeng."
"He's gonna get pissed..." Merrivale mumbled, watching as Eleanor unwrapped it.
"Don't sweet it," Eleanor reassured, "This will turn out perfectly."
From the drawed, Eleanor grabbed a brush, took the bowl of butter, and started brushing it onto the Turkey.
"is that...a paint brush?" Merrivale stiffled a laugh.
Heidi nodded and put her hands on her hips. "Yeep. We got it froom Montana's room."
"You know your supposed to use a cooking brush...right?"
"Same old, same old," Eleanor hummed.
After a few seconds, she covered the whole Turkey in butter.
"Okay, next up..."
"Cheese?" Heidi lit up at her suggestion.
"You don't put cheese on a Turkey," Michigan groaned.
"Yeah, Mickey? I think ya do," Heidi huffed. She opened the fridge, grabbing slices of cheese and slapping it on the Turkey.
Eleanor nodded. "Right...now, stuffing!" She grabbed the bowl she was mixing early.
"Do you even know how to stuff a Turkey?" Merrivale hummed, leaning against the counter and watching the show.
"Of course I do!" Eleanor nodded in defense.
She took a pair of scissors and made a incision on the Turkey's skin. With a spoon, she shoved the stuffing into the hole, squeezing it in between the skin and the meat.
Michigan snickered.
Eleanor nodded, looking at her work. "Time to bake now!"
"Right than, Heidi start the oven." Merrivale said lazily, whippin out his phone and scrolling.
Heidi nodded and went over to the double stacked oven. She looked over the buttons and the different degrees.
She hummed. "Huh...higher heat...means less cooking time!" She nodded, proud of her thought process as she turned the knob to full blast.
"I did it!" Heidi called out.
Eleanor nodded and turned to Merrivale. "See? We did it!" She smiled.
Michigan snorted and looked at her. "You sure did..."
...
The states became rowdy as they waited for the food. The table was already covered in casseroles, tacos, steak, ribs, and various other dishes that the states had cooked. A spot on the table was completley empty.
"Tex, where is the Turkey?' Aurelia whined. "I though you and Bill were working on it."
"Gah! Yew think I know? Psh, I ain't know where that thang is...it dissapeared on us," Tiago huffed, leaning in his chair. His hat sat lazily on his head, covering one of his eyes.
Beside him, Oklahoma nodded. His long braided hair was wrapping around his arm. "It slipt our hands," He said simply.
From the kitchen, Eleanor emerged, holding a big plate with a cover over it. She had a smile on her face.
Merrival and Heidi were already sitting at the table. Heidi has a pleased look on her fave. Merrivale stiffled a chortle.
The plate thumped and Eleanor placed it on the table. The closest state, Oregon, leaned over and pulled the cover off.
On the plate, in which they were expecting a big juicy Turkey, sat a small chicken like bud. A burnt, small, Turkey.
"You....Turkey?" Gwen stammered, her hand slowly letting go of the cover.
The states stared at the pathetic looking thing, staying silent. At the chair in front, Alfred stared unamused.
"You shrunk the damn Turkey?" Arkansas yelped.
"Aliens must have used their shrink guns!" Nevada yelped.
Beside him, Utah slapped his up the head.
Alfred pinched his nose and shook his head.
Eleanor stood and laughed nervously. "Hah...well...its fun-sized!"
"Yeah, give it to Rhodey, it'll fill him right up." Henry snickered.
"Fahk yu!" Davey yelled.
Alfred couldn't help but laugh silently.
Despite the failed thanksgiving, he couldn't help but be greatful for his states.
