Brown streaks occupied the sky till sullen air blew over the shard-like towers overgrown from the thick grasses lessening closer to its base. Kindled in ivory white, the castle remained suspended in the night sky like a freshly scrubbed platter serving delicacies of fraud. The environment being reflected on its pillars and fragile carvings, it housed from the four corners of the world the prestigious underground race who will doom the world into destruction. The structure was being ceremoniously decorated and being decorated still to leave normal perfectionists crying in the wind.
We know a wedding is a connection forged by the gods between two souls which our scriptures spoke of years ago. Even the short, chubby and glum kitchen manager who walked out of the castle whilst ticking off enormous checklists in his tablet believed in so. It was the entrance where the grandest preparations were being undertaken- umbrellas were streamed with diamonds held by dignified whispering carriers standing on both sides of the long linen carpet who were scolded by some superiors. The carpet drove hundreds of kilometres inside the mandap. Wreaths and exquisite curtains laced with silver threads draped off sharp white corners. He could hear platters clanging from the kitchen behind, when restless cooks reminded him about the night's scarcity of waiters.
He muttered incoherent details before a hand pressed his shoulder. Turning around, he discovered a new face.
"Your lack has been addressed, sir"
"You?" D'Souza eyed the smiling man dressed in navy blue suit and white turban, "In my whole career have I ever heard event managers holding stock waiters"
"But now we do" Gyan heaved the waiters forward and adjusted his stiff cuff, "Extras never goes to waste"
The short manager craned his neck. His pupil rising up and down as if it was taking a visual interview. Both waiters looked unusually young and sheepish, fidgeting with the towels draped over their arms. The shorter one was adjusting his tight fitted black apron, and when D'Souza stopped at him, he grinned back childishly.
Thanking the event manager, he led them inside whilst briefing their long list of chores, the end of which rolled out of his feet and travelled across Badri and Budh, only to get dragged behind them. A band party with snoozing trumpets round their necks passed through the heavily guarded entrance. Jaded guards in dark grey uniforms squeezed their hats and checked their trousers till half the members stood there with their pants down for inspection. Earphones pieces beeped in their ears, something Mega Robot could own, but the duo could not understand why they were wearing black shades at night.
The buff guard swayed metal detectors over the band members and checked their entry cards. Ever suspicius of both known and new faces, he blocked their way and thundered,
"Who allowed them inside?!"
The manager explained his current situation as he walked in with little steps. The guard peered down at the sweating duo before seizing their believable cards to check. First he took out the metal detector, then a microscope, then put them in an X-Ray scanner before attaching an eye glass and peering at it like an archeologist.
"Relax my friend!" A younger guard slipped their cards out of his fleshy hand and glanced at the waiters, "If the manager took them in so they're valid isn't it?"
"No intruders are allowed inside this castle" bellowed the buff one, "If any alien dare enter on his own-"
"We have six lakh people to feed" sneered the manager as he walked in, "So kindly excuse us"
They were permitted inside. Badri glanced at the guard who placed the yellow taper near the door and winked back from behind his shades. When they left, he examined his boss through his glasses for knew he was being watched. There were CCTV cameras in six different corners around him.
