kirishima walked through the dark night. he had left the agency later than usual due to the amount of paperwork he had. the sky made it seem like it was later than it was. the air outside seemed to be dropping more and more as the fall time cold turned into the winter frost. but the red-haired man didn't seem to mind.

kirishima was doing all his paper reports he put off until katsuki blew up at him. literally. so he decided on being warm today in the office. he sat for hours in his small office writing about the villains he didn't even remember fighting. he listened to the music blasting from his crummy headphones more than he did any reporting.

as he walked outside, he was regretting his layer. he guessed his body got used to the crazy cold due to his open hero suit, so it was too warm with his heavy black coat slung over his shoulders and with the wine-red thermal long sleeve under it along with his baggy black work jeans. the red-haired man was overheating in the cold; he didn't even know that was possible.

as he grew closer to the small little café the pretty girl worked at, he grabbed onto the straps of the backpack he brings everywhere with him. swinging it forward in front of him, tucking his black headphones that were playing his quiet songs into the bag. once the store was in view, kirishima saw the blonde sitting in the doorway talking into her phone.

"keigo, please shut the fuck up. he's not going to kidnap me, dumbass." the girl laughed as she yelled to the person on the phone.

kirishima didn't know why, but his stomach twisted hearing the girl loudly voice the man over the phone's concern, and not to mention it was a man's voice she was talking to, but kirishima pushed down that feeling immediately; he was probably overthinking.

the blonde girl looked up from the pile of snow she was making with her shoes. to the stocky shadow made from the streetlight from the kirishima frame.

kirishima watched as she let a breath out she didn't seem to know she was holding to see the man she recognized.

"okay, kie, he's here. i have to go. kei, are you listening? well, k, love you—keigo, what!" her voice screeched. "keigo, never mind; i don't love you. tell sami i miss her." the girl groaned as the man on the other side of the phone continued to speak. "yes, keigo, i know to take my meds. goodnight."

the blonde girl stood up, walking over to the towering man. "sorry, my brother's an asshole." she laughed, rocking on her feet.

kirishima didn't notice, but she was wearing a red sweater today; the thick material matched with the girl's blue jeans nicely. kirishima didn't know why, but he adored the way the girl did her hair; the headband that tucked her long blonde hair out of her face was breathtaking. or at least he thought so.

"what?" the girl asked nervously, pulling strands of hair from her face that the wind had pushed.

"did he really think i was going to kidnap you?" kirishima nervously smirked at the girl.

"oh no, of course not, he was just making fun of me," the blonde girl fixing her headband said. but she began to giggle lightly. "i'm going to be honest; i didn't hear you walking up, so when i saw your shadow for a second, i thought you were going to kidnap me too."

"i get that a lot, actually." kirishima looked down at the girl walking beside him. "what? why?" the yellow-eyed girl questioned.

"well, i want you to close your eyes and think of a very built 6'6 man with red eyes and sharp teeth, dressed in baggy clothes, wearing a backpack and headphones, minding his own business most of the time." kirishima laughed. "yeah, not that inviting."

"okay, yeah, i can see where you're coming from, but as soon as someone hears you open your mouth or looks at your face, they'd know you're not going to do anything to them." kirishima's eyebrows sewn together, looking at the blonde.

her eyes widened, shaking her head lightly. "it's not a bad thing at all. i'm saying you, you're very well-mannered, and your eyes are kind." izume paused. "like i'm more scared of blue eyes than red."

"i wish more people thought like you; i just find it sad that people are made to fear men that look like me." kirishima looked down at the girl, her holding her long sleeves. he didn't even notice her lack of winter clothes. the man began to shift to shrug his coat off. "plus, people are normally way gone before they are able to talk to me," kirishim said, placing the coat on her shoulders.

"your literally proving my point that you're a gentleman after you denied it." izume laughed and sunk her arms into his coat's sleeves.

"well, i'm just acting the way i want my sister and my mother to be treated." kirishima honestly didn't see how he was a gentleman; he was going to do the bare minimum of giving her his coat, especially in this weather.

the blonde girl smiled, looking up at him with a light smile on her lips. the red-haired woman was looking forward before her gaze gained his attention. he hummed at her gaze. "oh, nothing." the blonde girl looked forward. her gaze sinking to the walk ahead of her.

her heart speeding up every time his hand brushed against her own. until they ended up intertwined.

this small favor of walking the blonde home had begun to become a frequent occurrence.

kirishima asking for the girl's number, claiming that he needs to know when she's going to be walking home alone. so he could keep her safe from crazy people that come outside when the sun sets.

so about two or three times a week for the past two months or so was filled with early morning coffee runs for the red-haired man. followed by night walks filled with silly conversation, convenient store stops, kirishima jumping at the chance to give up his hoodie, flannel, zip-up, coat, or even carrying anything he could for the girl. and holding the girl's hand in his own and watching her get all flustered and nervous, that was the thing he enjoyed the most.
