He thought for a moment, trying to find the right words to explain it without sounding strange or weird. He thought it might be a little odd, but it was the best explanation he could give.
"Well... being the angel of Thursday just simply meant I was the angel that looked over people on Thursday... I would watch over people and protect them and listen to their prayers on Thursday. That was how I earned the title of being the angel of Thursday..."
"Hmmm oh so.. you're like the officer of the day..."
He chuckled at her analogy, finding it very similar
"Yeah, I guess you could say that. A spiritual officer of the day, I suppose..."
"Hhm, but in some scriptures, you were also called the shield of god..."
He smiled a little at that. He liked that particular title of his. He felt a small sense of pride every time it was mentioned in the scriptures. He chuckled quietly before confirming it.
"Yes, I am also called the shield of God, or in other translations, the protector of God."
"Why? You're Like.. god's bodyguard? Like close in security?"
He nodded, confirming what she just said.
"Yeah, I suppose I would be God's bodyguard. Not many people know this, or believe it, but I was closest to God and did his bidding from the very beginning. I was there, with God and Michael, Samael, and Uriel and the other angels, when creation first began. I have always been by God's side through everything. I suppose you could say I'm his most loyal angel, the one he trusted the most."
"Hhhmmm no wonder your punishment is lighter than the others."
He looked down at the table, that familiar pang of guilt and shame hitting him again. All the other angels suffered, while his own punishment was light. He frowned a little, not feeling that the "lesser" punishment was fair at all.
"Huh... yeah, I... I guess that would make sense. I did everything I could to keep the other angels safe, but I failed, so I supposed I didn't get punished as badly as the others..."
"That must've made you feel guilty, how I said it... I'm sorry. But my point is, he knows you, and understands you. Your punishment is a testament and a reflection of you, it is a way for you to learn your lesson from your mistake. The others have it worse because it needs to be, because that's how they can understand their mistakes, but not all would. Like Samael turning into Lucifer."
He nodded a little in understanding. He knew that she was right. God gave out punishments to the angels for a specific reason. God knew that they needed to be taught their lessons, and that some had to suffer to learn that lesson. Though he knew she was right, thinking about his own light punishment still made him feel guilty and ashamed. He knew the others suffered so much more.
