Author's note:

Hello! And welcome back! When I say I've genuinely missed you all I mean it.

So this chapter really got away from me, and I finally got to a point where I had to break it up because I only write this on my phone and Wattpad app is STRUGGLING. This is the first half of the new chapter, I'll post the second half hopefully in the next 2 days, but for context this is just over 13k words and the other portion I have going is just under 6k. It probably won't hit full 10k status like the last few, but I didn't want to keep everyone waiting even longer while I figured it out.

Thanks for the patience with the upload everyone. Not only is this chapter so very long, but I'm in the middle of interviewing for a new job.

I remember being so excited about the first 100 reads I got and now this whole book has almost 3.5k and that's??? Crazy??? I really never thought anyone would read this so to even have people who come back each chapter and comment, or vote, or even just read it is the most amazing thing. Truly thank you all, I know which usernames I see consistently and I think of you all while writing. I always hope you come back because as much as I have fun doing this I do it for all of you too.

Alright I'll wrap up this part of the note, but I have a question for everyone at the bottom so be sure to check back in! Enjoy!

9. Change of Plans
———————————————————————

Quinn had woken up feeling incredibly rested Sunday morning. She had slept better than she had in a while and could only assume it was a result of her new set up. She made a mental note to thank Nika again about 10,000 times the next time she saw her.

Quinn was still sore from the doing all the sprinkler heads the day before, but she did her best to stretch out and try to get her blood flowing to help alleviate some of the discomfort. After all she had 8 hours of sprinklers to do today. She got ready for work like normal and drove over to meet Kevin on site. By lunch her arms were killing her so she decided to go to her favorite deli because she knew it would buy her extra time on lunch to rest since Kevin really liked those sandwiches.

After their lunch break of silence and sandwiches they were back at it. Thankfully they had done most of the job before lunch so they ended up finishing just before 6. It took every ounce of will power Quinn had to hold her arms up to drive home. She knew she had told Nika she would make her dinner, but there was just no way she could do it.

'Maybe ordering something is just as good' Quinn sighed pulling into her parking spot. She trudged into the building and up to her apartment. Immediately she got in the shower and cranked it as hot as she could hoping the heat would help ease the aching in her arms. It helped ease some is the surface level pain but the deep ache and tiredness was still there.

Quinn changed into shorts and a cut off shirt and laid in her bed. The soft, cool sheets were a very welcome reprieve from the day she had had. She laid there for a while with her arms out before her phone rang. She knew it had to be one of two people, either Paige or Nika. Quinn was of course hoping it was the latter, so when picked up her phone and saw it was Nika, she was happy. Quinn answered, set it to speaker, and dropped it on her chest.

"Hey pretty girl" Quinn smiled to herself.

"Hey, you don't sound panicked at all. Didn't throw your phone across the room trying to answer this time?" Nika laughed.
