Author's Note:

Hi!

I was hoping to get this chapter out way sooner, but unfortunately I've been sick for a few days. In the meantime The Home Game has gone from under 300 total reads to over 600??

Thank you all so much! It's really mind blowing to me that people are actually reading along. I also apologize because I was hoping to make this chapter and the next one only one, but it would have been too rushed and compacted. So one more chapter of the party before our timeline stretches out some more.

Seriously thank you all so much! I appreciate you all!!

5. Rising Action
—————————————————————————

Quinn woke up particularly energized. All night her dreams had been filled with the basketball girls, but specifically Nika. Now she was up and getting ready for class to ensure she got there early and stayed good on her promise to be there. Her scout honor was on the line after all. In fact Quinn had gotten incredibly lucky to wake up on time. She had set her alarms and plugged her phone in, however she never plugged the charger into the wall. Her phone was only at 9% when she finally got up. Which meant today she would have to bring her charger and try not to forget it in the car when she got home.

Quinn hopped out of bed and did her very basic morning routine in the bathroom. Once she was done she pulled a pair of tapered black athletic sweats and a navy blue UCONN hoodie out of her drawers to change into for the day. She took the clothes she borrowed from Nika off and a tossed them on the bed rather than the floor, fully intending on wearing them again that night for bed. Once she was dressed she grabbed her phone charger, put on her shoes, grabbed her back pack and her keys, and was out the door.

While she never hated going to class this was the first time in a long time Quinn could say she was excited to go. Getting to hang out with everyone the night before really had been the most fun she had had in a while, even though it was fairly lowkey. It had been a perfect way for Quinn to get more comfortable with the idea of hanging out in a group, and a chance to see what it looked like to talk to Nika and Paige outside of class. She also had an excuse to go over again tonight to get her stuff back, but she knew there was a chance they would be heading out somewhere since it was a Friday.

Regardless Quinn still had a smile on her face just thinking of the night before and the class she had coming up. She made her way to the elevator and down to the lobby. She walked out to her car and unlocked it, tossing her backpack on the passenger seat as she got in. She pulled her charger out of her pocket and put the wall part in her backpack, but attached the chord to the port under the radio on her dashboard. Once her phone was plugged in she started the short drive to campus.

Quinn was planing on getting coffee before class like usual. Thankfully the lecture hall for her first class wasn't far from where the coffee shop was and there was a parking lot nearby. After a few minutes she's was parked. Quinn put her phone charger in her back and headed toward the coffee shop. She could see from outside Mel was there this morning which meant her coffee was going to be good. Thankfully there wasn't a line either so Quinn was hoping to be in and out quickly.

"Well look who it is" Mel said as Quinn came through the door. She stopped cleaning the counters and went over to the register.

"Hey Mel, how are you" Quinn asked adjusting her backpack straps as she came to a stop in front of the counter.
