Author's Note:
Howdy! Man I have I missed you guys.
Sorry it's been so long everyone, I was transitioning between jobs and my wife and I both got sick. We're all good now, and I'm getting my footing at my new job, but needless to say it impacted the time it took to write this. Sorry about the wait!
Hopefully the 25k word helps make up for it, but please don't expect chapters this long from me moving forward 😅
There's a lot of great stuff in this chapter (I think at least) so I so sincerely hope y'all enjoy it! I can't wait to see what everyone thinks!
Thank you so much for 15.2k reads!! That's bonkers and I don't understand, I never will. I appreciate you all do dearly, and I really hope you're enjoying what I'm putting out. If you're interested in updates/sneak peaks/general chaos please join the discord linked on my account.
As always, see you at the bottom!

13. The Truth
———————————————————————
Quinn woke up Friday morning still on her back. She rubbed her eyes before looking to the side to check on Nika since she hadn't heard any alarms go off yet, and she wasn't exactly a heavy sleeper. When she turned to look Quinn couldn't help the dry laugh that came out. Once again she woke up alone.
This time she felt confident Nika was still in her apartment, most likely in the bathroom again. But after a minute Quinn realized she could hear movement out in her main living area. She rubbed her eyes again and checked her phone. It was barely after 8am so they had plenty of time to get to class, which only made her more curious as to what Nika was doing.
'Maybe she couldn't sleep and didn't want to bug me.' Quinn conceded slipping out of her bed slowly. She stretched and ran a hand through her hair as she made her way to her door. The second she opened her bedroom door she could smell exactly what Nika had been doing. Quinn couldn't help but smile, Nika was cooking. Quinn made her way out to the kitchen to see Nika working on scrambled eggs over a burner.
"Good morning" Quinn did her best to announce herself as to not scare Nika, but still the basketball player jumped slightly.
"Damn, I was hoping to have this done before you woke up" Nika sighed before turning to face Quinn. "Good morning, I hope it's okay I made breakfast, I wanted to return the favor" Nika turned back to the stove in front of her.
"It's more than okay, it's appreciated. That's incredibly kind of you." Quinn walked over and leaned on the counter next to the stove. "Do you need help?"
"No I got it, I'm no professional like you, but I do make the best scrambled eggs" Nika raised her eyebrows and smirked at Quinn before cutting the heat to the burner.
"The best scrambled eggs?" Quinn asked looking around quickly and realizing they needed plates from the cupboard behind her. She turned to grab them "how did I get so lucky on a random Friday morning to get the best scrambled eggs?" Quinn felt a smile pulling at her lips to be spending yet another morning in her apartment with Nika. She turned and held the plates out to Nika who was already giving her a look.
"Are you teasing me? After I made you breakfast?" Nika asked starting to assemble a plate. She had already made bacon and toast and had it sitting to the side.
