Linh threw herself onto her fluffy, queen-sized bed. She shoved her face into a pink pillow, knowing full well that her makeup would ruin it, but she didn't care. She had to get time for herself, needed time to process what he'd said,
"I like it here. I'm even making friends."

"Tam, WHY do you have to be SO STUBBORN?!" She cried aloud, squeezing the pink cushion fiercely. " You have friends here, Tam! You have me! Why would you chose to stay with them over us!?"
Linh had never been so upset in her life, not even when she'd been banished. Tam liked the enemy. She sobbed, sobs that made her throat raw, thinking about all that had gone wrong. A part of her felt like it had been left behind somewhere. Lost, she thought, Tam's lost his way, and might never return.
Just then a soft, tentative knock came from the door.
"Come in." Linh said quietly, and a blond girl with tiny braids scattered through her wavy hair took a step in the doorway.  Her worried, ice-blue eyes gazed around the room, landing on Linh's shaking form. She hesitated for a second, her hand resting on the doorframe, and then she immediately entered the room once she saw Linh. Linh felt the weight shift on the bed as Marella ran a hand down her shaking back, gently tracing circles.
"Hey, you okay?" She asked, sounding so concerned.
No, not at all. Linh thought, but she tried for a small smile. It absolutely didn't work.
"Okay, I can see you're not okay. And I get it, I wouldn't be either. Come her." Marella opened her arms, and wrapped them around Linh, who sank into the embrace. Her sobbs turned to crying, which turned into hiccupy whimpers, till she was taking shakky breaths as the story of her, Sophie's, and Tam's telepathic conversation poured out of her. Marella was a good listener, despite how much she usually talked, and she murmured comforting words into Linh's hair. Linh hugged her tight, hoping she would never let go.
They sat like that for a while, each grateful for the other's company through the mental storm. When it was finally time for Marella to go, since her mom would get worried if she was gone too long, Marella gave Linh a gentle kiss on the forehead before saying, "Bye for now, Linh. Just... don't carry this alone. I'll always come running."
Linh nodded yes, before giving Marella one last hug. "I miss you already," she whispered.
"Me too." Marella smiled sadly before turning to leave. Linh felt calmer than she had once Marella softly closed the door behind her, and she was so grateful to have a friend--a good friend--to be with her during dark times. Maybe--just maybe--I'm not alone in this darkness. She thought as she drifted off to sleep.
