Chapter Fourteen

LILITH'S POV

My life had started going back to normal, this I knew. But there was still one thing missing. Lucifer. I had to reach out. I needed him by my side once more.
Picking up my phone, I call him. After a few rings he answers. He's silent at first, as if just seeing my name made him believe I could disappear all over again.
"Luci?" My voice comes out soft,  sounding almost timid.
"Lili? Is... is that you?"
I feel my breath catch as I begin to answer. Just hearing him made me instantly relax.
"Yes! My Luci, it's me."
"My love, how I miss you."
"I miss you too, can I come over, please? We have a lot to discuss."
"Yes, come home, my Queen." 
"I'll be there soon. I love you."
"I love you too. So much."
The call drops and I get up. I start getting ready as a giddy feeling of anticipation  I haven't felt in years goes through me. I was going to see the love of my life again  at last!
I arrive at what used to be my home, it hasn't changed at all since I left. I take in the familiar sights when I finally see him. My Lucifer, my Morningstar. I approach, scared that he'll vanish. It all seems too good to be true.  When I reach him, he takes both of my hands into his  and squeezes them gently.
"Lilith." I see his eyes roam my body lustfully.
"Lucifer."
"We have much to talk about, why don't you come on in."
He guides me into our home and we sit down at the kitchen table.
"I guess I should start this by saying I'm sorry, Luci."
"Why are you sorry?"
"Like our daughter, I didn't give you an explanation for why I left. At the time, it wouldn't have been safe for me to do so."
"I understand, but what exactly do you mean, not safe?"
"I made a deal." I say going straight to the point.
"A deal?" I see him stiffen.
"Yes, with Adam. As long as I stayed up in Heaven and cut off all ties to my family, you and Charlie would be safe from the Exterminations."
"So you left... to protect our daughter? To... protect us.  It wasn't because of me?"
"No, Luci. I know we've had our differences over the years... but even after everything, you are still my love. My reason to live with eternal happiness."
"Lili... after all this time... I thought you left because of me. Because of me leaving you and Charlie..."
"No. And I've already reconnected with our duckling. I gave her the same explanation I'm giving you now. I'm so sorry, Lucifer. I promise you, I'm never leaving again."
"Never?"
"Never. Oh also, I have something for you."
I reach into my bag and pull out a rubber duck and gently toss it at him. He breaks into an almost child-like smile and squeezes the duck.
"I love you, Lili."
"I love you more." I whisper and lean in, kissing him passionately. Oh how I've longed to do this for ages. I rest my hand on his cheek, feeling completely and truly at peace.
VAGGIE'S POV
"Charlie? Can you come to our room for a moment?"
"Of course!"
She walks into our room and looks around with a slight hint of confusion.
The room is dimly lit with candles being the only source of light. There is also a few vases of roses, one of her favorite types of flowers,  scattered throughout.
"Vaggie... what's all this?"
"Well, you know I'm not one for prolonging things..."
"Yeah?"
I take a deep breath as the reality of what I'm about to do sinks in. This could either make or break my relationship. No pressure. It'll be fine...
"Ever since you found me in that alley three years ago, I have been so deeply in love with you, Charlie. You gave me a home to call my own after I was cast out. You let me heal, you let me breathe, but most importantly, you gave me a second chance that I never thought I deserved. Even when I wasn't fully honest about my true identity, you forgave me. We've been through so much together, mi amor. And even though I spent years in Heaven, it never felt like my true home as much as this Hotel has within the last few years. I used to think my purpose was to kill for a false cause. I thought I was little more than a tool. But now I see that my purpose is to love you. I am your protecter and your partner. And I've been trying to think of how I want to spend my life, and it always circles back to spending it with you. So Princess Charlotte Morningstar," I fall to one knee and take one of her hands while pulling out a small box and opening it with the other, "Will you marry me?"
I watched her expression  go from emotional to excited as her face lights up.
"Yes Vaggie! Yes yes yes!! It would be my honor!"
I slide the ring onto her finger. The ring is on a silver band with elegant diamonds in the center.
I can't recall a time where I have felt this happy before. I can't believe it! She said yes! She takes my face into her hands and we begin kissing. All I can feel is the spark of joy and flame of longing for my now fiancé.
She pushes me onto the bed and I get lost in her. Next thing I know, she's fully on top of me kissing my neck. I feel my breathing become heavy and everything else fade away.
I slide my hands underneath her shirt and begin to explore her body. She lets out a soft whimper of surprise  when I caress her chest. I can tell she likes it. 
"Holy Hell." Her voice is breathless.
"Something the matter, Princesa?" I say teasingly.
"Besides you being a tease, everything's perfect. Now shut up and kiss me."
I oblige immediately and start to kiss along her collarbone. She lets out a moan, it's full of nothing but pleasure. 
After a while, we're both completely breathless and she's still on top of me. I'm still coming down from the high of what we just did.
"We did lock the door, didn't we?" She asks her face flushed.
"I think so."
"If this is what spending the rest of my life with you will be like, then you won't catch me complaining."
I chuckle and kiss her cheek.
"Same here Princess, same here."
"I love you, Vaggie." She says quietly while resting her head on my chest.
"I love you too, Charlie. More than anything."
