LUTE'S POV
I typically do trust my partner's ideas of a good time. However, something felt off about this one. I mean, for Heaven's sake we were just banished to Hell indefinitely. I don't regret the fall, but this is the very place Adam and I hated. If Adam found out I was here living amongst the Hellspawn... I think I'd make myself a sacrifice to Lucifer himself.
Adam has every right to be disappointed in me now. I failed our mission... I was supposed to kill these bitches, not reside with them. I was supposed to never be in a relationship with a woman, but now I am in one and even worse, I love it.
"God, what have I become?" I stare at myself in the mirror in my guest bedroom in the Hazbin Hotel. I guess that's another thing Adam could be disappointed in me for. The very place we were trying to destroy and keep from redeeming Sinners is now my home.
Glancing over at the clock that's on my bedside table I realize that it's almost time for me to meet Emily in the lobby. I look over myself in the mirror one more time before leaving my room. Once I'm at our meeting spot, I look around for her. I smile a bit when I spot her waiting by the main doors. We lock eyes and she breaks into a bright smile.
"Lute! There you are! You ready to go?"
"Yes, my Seraph, I'm ready."
She takes my hand and leads me out of the Hotel.
We arrive at a place that looks like a small, surprisingly nice looking restaurant. Emily opens the door for me and I walk in. I look around warily still not fully trusting the place. Several of the Hellspawn are talking in small groups, with some sitting by their lonesome in corners. The overall feel of the place was much cozier than I was expecting. Although, I guess I really had no idea what I was expecting from somewhere like this. My gaze falls upon Charlie sitting at a table talking to someone. I grow tense when I realize that the person she's talking to is Vaggie. I try to suppress my feelings of distaste as I turn to face my partner.
"Emmy... maybe we should go somewhere else..."
"Come on, it'll be fine. It looks like they're doing the same thing we are."
"I don't know Em..."
"Trust me, it'll be fine."
Before I can reply Charlie is waving us over. Emily takes my hand into hers as she guides me towards the other couple's table.
"Hey Em! Hey Lute!" Charlie's energetic tone reminds me so much of Emily that I can't possibly be annoyed with her.
"Hello, Your Majesty." I say politely giving a small bow. Vaggie glares coldly at me and it takes everything in me not to do the same in return. Emily pulls out the chair that is across from the Princess and gestures for me to sit down. I reluctantly do so as she takes the seat across from my archenemy. What the everloving fuck had I gotten myself into?CHARLIE'S POV
You could practically see the tension between the two fallen Exorcist Angels from the moment Em and Lute had approached Vaggie and I. I was determined to fix this once and for all. They can't keep living in this state of constant rivalry.
I notice that Vaggie and Lute are staring at each other icily. Exchanging a look with Emily, I take my fiancé's hand, squeezing it gently and reassuringly.
"So... I hear you two have a history?" I was so grateful that Emily was the conversation starter.
"Unfortunately..." Vaggie says through clenched teeth.
"I guess." Lute averts her gaze.
"Can you tell us about it? How did you two meet?" I'm trying my best to keep this conversation civil.
"We met because of our old jobs."
"We were sisters in arms." Vaggie sighs.
"We were... until you betrayed us."
"I wouldn't have betrayed any of you if you all weren't fucked up, blood thirsty, stuck up assholes. Not to mention that the only reason you are even alive is because I spared your fucking life."
"You used to be one of us, do you not recall that?"
"Oh sadly, I do recall. But you're also one to talk."
"What the fuck is that supposed to mean?" Lute stands with nothing but fury in her eyes.
"You're amongst the people that you killed thousands of. You, out of all people, are a traitor to Heaven and its order." Vaggie stands face to face with Lute. I watch them with growing concerned. This was escalating a lot quicker than I expected.
"Okay... that's enough, both of you." I say trying to draw their attention away from one another.
"No! She's already ruined my afterlife once. I'm not letting her do it again."
"Vaggie, please..."
"I see little miss hot-temper has to go and make it about herself. That's typical."
"Ugh, God, Lute. Would you just shut the fuck up?"
"Enough!!!" Emily slams her hands on the table and stands up abruptly. The attention of almost the entire restaurant was on us.
"We can't fix anything if you two can't get the hell along! Face it Lute, we're stuck down here. If you want to just make this harder on yourself in the long run rather than at least trying to fix it... be my guest. But I'm tired of the bickering from the both of you. Stop acting like you're fucking children," Em pauses for a moment to catch her breath, the restaurant is silent, "Please..." She looks down sheepishly.
I stare at Emily in stunned silence. Lute and Vaggie look at her, then back at each other.
"Okay, fine, I'll try I guess. But only you." Lute shrugs.
"Fine." Vags sits back down beside me as Lute retakes her place beside her girlfriend.
"Thank you." I sigh with relief.
As the atmosphere around us returns to normal Lute begins to laugh.
"Remind me to never, ever, piss off a Seraphim."
We all share a laugh and the tension fully dissolves. I look around at the group and silently hope that it will only improve from here.
