Taylor spent most of her afternoon between classes and the parent teacher conference tidying up her classroom and making everything look perfect. She had notes for each student and was already hating the idea of the long night ahead of her. The only part she was looking forward to was the ending and that's only because her last parent would be Travis.
Each individual parent seemed to drag on and on, Taylor just wanted to get home by the time her second to last parent left. Then she made eye contact with Travis.
Taylor's cheeks immediately blushed, thinking back to how he had gotten so close to a point where she could have sworn he was going to kiss her. She desperately craved his lips on hers but it was way too inappropriate and unprofessional. "Hey, how is Harper doing after today?" Taylor asked, gesturing to a seat for Travis.
Travis sat down and watched as Taylor turned to him, straightening up and making sure her posture was perfect. "She's upset, terrified to come to school tomorrow but I'm sure she'll be okay. She said that James has still been quite mean while they're all outside." Travis told Taylor.
"Oh, I'm so sorry about that. I will speak to her tomorrow. She's such a sweetheart she doesn't deserve all of this." Taylor replied, opening up a book and turning to Harper's page. She didn't have many notes for harper and none of them were negative at all.
"I don't have anything bad to say. She's such a lovely student, so polite. She finds it hard to come in and find a space when we do circle time so I make sure to put her by me." Taylor told him. "Other than that I have nothing else to say she's literally perfect. Any questions?" Taylor asked.
"Um its not about harper." Travis mumbled.
"Go ahead."
"I kind of told my family I have a girlfriend and we have this family gathering that we were going to and she left me and I forgot that she was supposed to be coming. I didn't tell my family that we broke up so I kind of need someone to pretend to ev my girlfriend for this one event. I know it's so unprofessional to ask you and it's terrible that I'm doing this but you're so great with harper and she loves you and you'd be so believable and I know that you could act and I'm so sorry-" Travis rambled.
"Of course I will step in. I don't mind at all. Just tell me when and where." Taylor told him, a reassuring smile on her face.
Taylor found that the week went by quickly and she soon found herself heading up the steps toward Travis house. She slowly made her way up to the door and gently knocked. Within seconds the door swung open and Travis was holding little Harper.
"Hey. Our overnight bags are in the car so we're ready to go, you can put yours in then just come straight inside." Travis told Taylor, unlocking his car and holding the door for her. Taylor quickly threw her bags in before taking a deep breath and heading inside.
Travis placed Harper down and sent her to the bathroom and while she was gone he pushed Taylor against the wall gently. "Mind if I do something just for Practice?" He whispered.
"I don't mind." Taylor or breathed, her eyes meeting Travis'. Travis slowly leant in, kissing her hard with passion. Taylor immediately kissed back, knowing this was a test to see if she would be willing to do anything with confidence.
Travis slowly made his way down to her neck, staying there and making sure to leave a mark before pulling back. "Whoops, I guess my family will just have to see how in love we are." He told her, causing her to giggle.
"I might have accidentally marked you." Travis told her, acting as if it was totally unintentional. Taylor blushed, catching his eye. She had no idea how she would get that covered up and she had no doubts that Travis would leave more to make it look like they really loved each other.
The three headed out to the car and Taylor hesitantly got in. She wasn't going to admit it but she was terrified about the whole thing. She had got a bottle of wine for Travis' parents and some flowers for his mom in hopes that they would like her. She didn't know why though, she was only Going to see them one time and have to know them for one night. After that it wouldn't matter.
She noticed the hickey on her neck when she glanced in the mirror, trying to hide the small sigh that she let out. She would definitely have to hide that on Monday and she had no idea how. She noticed Travis pulling up to a large house and her jaw almost dropped. She was living in a tiny apartment alone with her cats, she thought Travis house was big but this was even bigger.
"It's a place we rented out for this family gathering." Travis told Taylor. She slowly nodded and looked at the house, suddenly feeling a tightness in her chest as the cat stopped and they all started to get out. Taylor clutched tightly onto the straps of her bag as they headed up the steps to the house.
Travis noticed Taylor's anxiety and slowly wrapped his arm around her waist, squeezing gently and guiding her into the house. The could headed inside, Travis hand gently resting on Taylor's lower back while he introduced her to every single member of his family.
Taylor could feel herself getting overwhelmed and desperately looked for an excuse to leave. Thankfully she felt a little hand tap her. "Miss Swift? Where is the bathroom?" Harper asked shyly. She was fidgeting on the spot and clearly desperate.
"Come on honey, I'll take you." Taylor whispered, taking her hand and walking her to find a bathroom. She just desperately needed some time to calm down and breathe.
