Y/n's POV

"Ow."

I groaned as I rolled over onto my back, slowly opening my eyes as I laid on the ground painfully. The sun was bright over head, and seagulls flew above me. Everything felt bruised battered and pained. It was like my brain was being bashed in with a hammer.

I moaned in pain, as I shifted my feet and legs to stand, hoisting myself up. Coming to a standing position only for my legs suddenly to buckle beneath me as I felt a tsunami of pain shoot up through me. I collapsed on the sand and looked down at my legs, only to see blood covering my skin, and a bone sticking out of my knee. I started hyperventilating, crying out and moaning in misery as waves of nausea and pain rolled over me from my leg. I could hardly breath or think.

I let out another pained whale as I managed to move my hand down to my pocket and pull out the canteen of nectar. I slowly lifted it to my mouth and drank. I only meant to take a little, but I couldn't stop myself, and soon I had drained the whole container. On entry it tasted like hot chocolate, but as I drank more and more it burned down my throat like fire. And sat in my stomach like molten lava, I doubled over in pain and nearly passed out again. If I hadn't been 3/4ths immortal then I would have immolated into a bonfire in seconds. But even if my immortal blood kept it from killing me, it didn't stop the fiery pain down my throat and chest the nectar left behind.

Regardless the bone reset itself and the bloody wound closed up as I dropped the canteen and collapsed back against the sand.

Along with my leg, most of my pain had cleared up, there was still a headache and a few scrapes and cuts. But at least I wasn't incapacitated.

I groaned again as I sat up and rested my arms and head on my knees. I still felt nauseous and low energy, all I wanted was a towering plate of pizza rolls. I would even take a pizza bagel.

Either way shielding my fall had taken even more out of me. I felt even more tired, and now I didn't have any nectar or ambrosia to keep me going. But why?

I had never hurt this much before, never been this exhausted or tired before. Every time I used my power, it drained me.

I flashed back to that conversation that I had with them in my dreams. And that ever pervasive statement echoed through my mind. "You need me."

And like a beckoning call, I felt his presence enter my mind.

"Good to see you've come to your senses."

I groaned, "Shut up."

"What? No 'welcome back' no 'happy to see you'?" he mocked. "It doesn't matter anyway. As soon as you bridged that gap and accessed that power again, to save yourself from the fall. You let me back in your mind. No more reaching out through dreams and fading memories, I'm not leaving."

I clenched my fists. "I beat you once, I'll do it again."

"Perhaps. But if you're smart you won't."

I let out a deep shaky breath as I continued. "What? Because 'I need you'?" I snapped back. "Well I don't! You said it yourself, I can use this power without your help. I did at the Arch, I can do it without you!"

I pushed their voice out, and stood back up, as I began to walk inland. Pushing past my fatigue and pain, I would prove them wrong.

But as I pushed past the sand, and approached the foliage in front of me. I felt a wave of nausea and imbalance hit me. It was like a massive sugar crash, and I collapsed back to the sand.

"Without me?" he laughed. "You can't survive without me."

I felt my breath stricken. And my heart slow, every nerve was firing trying to move, but nothing responded.
