Percy's POV
I'd finally found something I was really good at.
The Queen Anne's Revenge responded to my every command. I knew which ropes to hoist, which sails to raise, which direction to steer. We plowed through the waves at what I figured was about ten knots. I even understood how fast that was. For a sailing ship, pretty darn fast.
It all felt perfect-the wind in my face, the waves breaking over the prow.
But now that we were out of danger, all I could think about was how much I missed Tyson, and how worried I was about Grover.
I couldn't get over how badly I'd messed up on Circe's Island. If it hadn't been for Annabeth, I'd still be a rodent, hiding in a hutch with a bunch of cute furry pirates. I thought about what Circe had said: See, Percy? You've unlocked your true self!
I still felt changed. Not just because I had a sudden desire to eat lettuce. I felt jumpy, like the instinct to be a scared little animal was now a part of me. Or maybe it had always been there. That's what really worried me.
I looked over at Annabeth who was now kneeling on the deck. She placed guinea pig Y/n gently on the floor along with the last multivitamin. He gradually woke up, shaking his head and little ears as he came to. At first he looked around in confusion unsure of what was happening, then he saw Annabeth kneeling in front of him, and he gave a joyful reet, before spinning around excitedly. He looked over at me from where I stood at the helm.
I waved as I spoke, "Hey man."
He could only reet in response, as Annabeth chuckled to herself.
"Eat the vitamin, it'll turn you back to a human." she said pointing down at it.
He reeted in understanding before chowing down on the multivitamin.
Y/n's guinea pig body seemed to ripple and convulse. His form shifting color and his shape growing larger. I blinked and in an instance Y/n appeared sitting on the deck, fully clothed, and fully human.
"That was one weird experience." Y/n said.
"Yeah, who knew pirates made horrible classroom pets." I joked.
He looked at me in confusion. "Wait what?"
Annabeth chuckled as she stood, offering a hand down to Y/n which he quickly took.
"Nice to have you back Plant Boy." Annabeth smirked.
He smiled lightly, "Likewise Wise Girl."
He went to brush some loose hair behind his ear, when he suddenly remember something.
"Wait! Where's my-"
I smirked slightly as I pulled out the rose from my pocket, "Looking for this?"
He ran over and grabbed it from my hand. Swiftly tucking it in his ear as he looked back at me.
"How did you even find that?"
"Caught it in the explosion before we got separated." I explained.
Y/n nodded and then took a moment to look around the ship, until it finally registered what exactly he was standing on.
"Uh . . . how did you guys get a pirate ship?" his gaze drifted back over to me as I gripped the steering wheel. "Furthermore how do you know how to drive it?"
"Kind of a long story." I answered.
The two of them walked over to stand beside me as I directed the ship. Y/n leaned against the railing as he tried to relax a bit. He then risked a glance over his shoulder to the wider ocean before swiftly cringing and backing off. Instead walking closer to the middle of the deck as he spoke, "Start from the Birmingham."
