Jordyn's pov.

The only call I cared about finally came, Max woke up. But what followed was chaos, as per usual.

"Jordyn.. We were talking and wanted to make space for you." David and Elizabeth said after sitting me down for breakfast. "My own room?" I asked hopefully and they looked at each other. "I thought the only extra room was his writing space?" I asked and he shook his head, "It is. But um.." "I want to stay with Carter. I mean I've never had my own room and Taylor seems like a total neat freak.. No offense. I just.. Give me a bed in a corner." I explained. And thus.. I got exactly what I wanted. A bed in a corner of Carter's room. We had a sheer canopy hanging down on my side that kept me 'separated'. It wasn't great but it also kinda made it feel like home.

Carter was busy packing up her life with Crash, erasing the memories from her visual world. Meanwhile I was busy trying to reconnect with my recently back from the brink of death best friend, and his awkward attempts to not be awkward around my twin sister Taylor whom he had recently broken up with. Everything was coming up aces.

"You're telling me that Lori Stevens was stalking David and Elizabeth before we were even born?" I asked Carter and she nodded. "Mom is gonna help me find her. She's not telling us the truth. About any of this." Carter said and I grimaced, "still not 100% on board with the whole 'mom' train." "I'm sorry.." Carter said and I sighed. "We're gonna be late for school," I reminded her just as Elizabeth came inside, "Not you two, you're taking a sick day." "Why?" I asked and she sighed, "you two have had a lot of.. Trauma lately and I know you don't want to talk to me but you need to talk to someone. So I've arranged for a youth counselor to come to the house today to talk to you. Please just give it a try?" Elizabeth left and I stared at Carter. "This is because Crash kidnapped me, isn't it?" I asked her and she shrugged, "or you accidentally blurted out that Lori duct taped you to a chair." "Or your boyfriend shooting Max?" I added. "Okay fine I see her point now," Carter said defeatedly. "Want a cookie?" I asked and she chuckled but then the doorbell rang. "I'll get it," Carter said and went to the door.

"Carter?" I asked and dropped my cookie as soon as mom came through the front door. "Hi girls," she said in a totally normal voice while wearing a totally not normal blonde wig. "Mom what are you.. You can't just come in here.." Carter started but she pushed past her and hugged me. "Jordyn, I've been so worried about you. And Carter, I saw the amber alert, you really thought I wouldn't come check on you? You're my daughters. There's nothing that could keep me away from you two." Mom said in her usual mom voice. It was so hard to remember all the stuff we had recently found out about her.

"You two seem happy here.. It was stupid of me to think that I stood a chance to get you back," Mom said. "Mom.." I started but she wiped away her tears, "I thought we were happy. I thought that we.. that I was enough family for you two." "Mom.. it's not.. I couldn't choose." Carter tried to explain. "You spent 3 months with them.. How does that erase 13 years with me? And you.. You didn't even give me a minute to explain before you hid behind Max-" Mom started but Carter stepped towards her, "It doesn't erase it but that past.. Those years.. We weren't supposed to have those. It was all based on a lie. And you hurt people, people who didn't deserve to go through the pain of losing their children. Of burying a little girl because they believed that it was their dead child."

"You don't mean that," mom cried. "Mom, I know the truth. You were stalking them." Carter said. Mom scoffed, "typical. They don't want the truth to get out.. So I won't ruin it for you. But you two deserve the truth so get it from them. Make them tell you who I really am to them." Mom walked to the door, "you still call me mom." I looked at her, "Mom.. it's not too late to fix this." She smiled, "I love you girls, more than you will ever know. I'm glad that you found a home here, and I will always be here if you need me. I promise. I love you more." "Not possible," Carter and I mumbled at the same time. She smiled, "yes possible." And with that she disappeared once again. I looked at Carter, "do we tell anyone about this?"
