Chapter Fourteen: When Our World Fell Apart (again)

Jordyn's pov.

Carter looked at me and Taylor crying in her bedroom. "You both got dumped on the same day?" Carter asked in disbelief. "It's all Gabe's fault." I cried. "How?" Carter asked. "He told Ofe that he stayed over and Ofe thinks that I cheated on him with Gabe." I said sniffling. "And what happened with Max?" Carter asked Taylor. "Max wants to forgive Crash." Taylor said in an angry voice.

"Family meeting!" Elizabeth called and we all headed downstairs to the living room. "Were you two crying?" Grant asked me and Taylor but we waved him off. "Is this normal?" I asked Grant but he shrugged, "I'm not getting a 'hey kids we're going to disneyland vibe' from it." "They're getting divorced," Taylor said and I stared at her, "don't say that." "Why? You don't even like them." Taylor snapped at me. I narrowed my eyes at her but Carter interrupted, "come on guys."

"You're separating?" I asked the pair of them after David and Elizabeth were done explaining. "We're taking turns staying in the house with you guys." David explained. "Isn't gammy and Pop-pop's anniversary party tonight?" I asked and everyone in the room collectively sighed. "Yes.. yes um we'll go as a family." Elizabeth said. I went to my room and my phone rang. I answered it.

Unknown: this is a collect call from: Lori Stevens at Country Correctional Facility. Would you like to accept the charges?

Jordyn: yes.

Lori: Jordyn?

Jordyn: Hi mom.

Lori: Hi baby. Did they tell you the truth? Did they tell you about me and David's affair?

Jordyn: No. Mom, what are you talking about?

Lori: they're still lying to you. Carter knows. Ask your sister. Honey.. David knew all along. We were gonna run away together, he was going to leave Elizabeth. We were supposed to be a family. A real one.

Jordyn: They told me that you were delusional. I didn't want to believe it until now..

Lori: don't trust them Jordyn. You're smarter than that.

Jordyn: goodbye mom. I hope that you get the help that you desperately need.

Lori: Don't dismiss this Jordyn. I love you. You've never doubted that before, don't start now.

Jordyn: mom..

Lori: Tell me that you love me. I'll say that I love you more. Say not possible. I'll say yes possible. Say you're still my daughter. Say that I'm still your mother.

Jordyn: I'm sorry mom.

Lori: I love you more.

Jordyn: I can't.

Lori: Not possible.

Jordyn: mom..

Lori: Yes possible.

The line clicked off and I cried while holding the phone. I wrapped my legs up underneath me and held myself together. I should have said it back. Why didn't I say it back? I got ready for Gammy's party. It was awkward, especially after learning that Lori tried to call Carter and Taylor but they blocked her. The party ended in Taylor drunkenly telling gammy and Pop-pop that we weren't biologically related to them. So pretty much the same old bullshit.
