jai's pov:
its been about 2 weeks and i can finally go back to school the doctor said i should be cleared in 2 more weeks, i hope so yeah happy about that, i got out the car kathryn ran up to me she hugged me i kissed her head, she hugged me for maybe 3 minutes
"i love you" she said softly into my chest
"i love you more princess"
she smiled gently, she let go of me and handed me my book-bag, i smiled as a thank you, i walked on my crutches and she followed me, we talked a lil, but it was a lot on my mind so i was kinds dry, we walked to out locker, she helped me out alot, she doesn't like when i do alot when i'm hurt, we walked to math class i had put my head down and she was talking to her friend she started rubbing my head, and face
"baby" she whispered breaking my thoughts
"hm" i said
"you okay" she asked
"oh yea ofc ma" i said
"okay i love you" she asked kissing my cheek
"i love you more baby" i said putting my hand on her thigh
she put my airpod in for me and played some music and i was real close to her, she had her arm around me playing with my dreads and rubbing my face
kathryn pov:
me and my friend Alexis was talking and something was off about my baby she seemed odd
"sooo you and jai 10 months coming up" she said
"yess i said, im so in love with my perfect girl" i said looking over at her
"awwww i love seeing you happy" she said
"hey and no offense, i like jai better den shay" she said
"mmtch for the record me tooo" i said laughing
"who's shay" jai asked
"shay is her ex who did the most over everything and just wasn't good for her" Alexis said
"and im better" she said picking her head up
"wayyyyyyy better" me and alexis said in unison and laughed
she put her head back down and put her airpods back in. the rest of the day went by fine, but jai was so lost all day, she had a blank expression, and i would be forced to break her out her thoughts, we walked from our last class, we walked out the door and to her car, and her music connected to the car it was adel we started driving she didn't say anything
"baby" i said
"huh" she said slightly turning her head
"are you okay? you been real quiet" i said
"mhm" she said
"okay" i said
we got to her house she opened my door,
"jai you got to unwrap your leg clean it rewrap it and put your leg brace on and practice walking on your leg her ma said
"ok" she said
something gotta be wrong she never dry with her mom
"baby do you need some help" i asked
"sure" she said
i unwrapped her leg and gently cleaned it, rewrapped it and pulled her joggers up, and i put the leg brace on.
"thank you ma" she said looking at me and looking down
"you're welcome prettygirl" i said
she laid down 
"baby can we talk?" i asked
"mhm." she said
"whats wrong like can you talk to me, we haven't talked all day, you been dry, like whats up we beefing." i said
"no im sorry its not you." she said sighing hard
"can we talk about this after a nap, i just needa sleep on it for a min." she said with a tear coming out her eye
"baby come here" i said wrapping my arms around her
she laid in my neck, i rubbed her backs she gotta be hurting her whatever it is because she doesn't cry, i felt water falling down my neck she was crying
"baby you let me know when you wanna talk" i said rubbing her back snd kissing her forehead
soon i felt her soft breath against my skin, she was sleep deprived, she snored softly
"baby" i said shaking her a little bit
"hm" she said
"i love you prettygirl" i said
"i love you more mama" she said
the snoring continued
i ended up falling asleep and i woke up to the smell of weed, jai was otg i walked over to her and sat on her lap she rubbed her hands across my stomach to my back, and i laid down taking in her embrace
"baby come here" i said getting up leading her to the bed
"hm" she said laying down
i got on top of her and made her sit up
"baby whats wrong talk to me" i said pulling her dreads out her face she was so fucking high
"mmtch nothing ma" she said shaking her head causing her dreads to fall
"talk to me when you ready" i said getting off and grabbing my ipad
"im sorry" shes said getting up
"where are you going jai" i said
"i dont know" shes said
by the time i got up she was gone her phone was on the bed she was clearly upset and high, i just laid there my phone started ringing off the chain
"hello?" i said
"kathryn?" jalexis said
"jalexis!?!" i said
"yes hello, i needa talk to you but jai can't be around" she said
"she got up and left i dont know where she went, shes been spiraling like this for about 3 days" i said with a hard sigh
"please dont be mad at her" she said
"okay im listening" i said
"okay so jai isn't good about feelings, but her gma died on monday and she physically can't process it, and during 5th period someone said you and janiyah was thinking about dating, and she looked at me, and i seen her heart shatter" jalexis said
"wait no, i dont like her i want jai, shes mad at me, i dont know where she at" i said
"listen me and jai been best friends since 1st grade this what she do, she just needs a minute, just be there" she said
"okay ima try to go find her, she is high asfk, like to the point her eyes red" i said
"she had to smoke alot her eyes don't get red" she said
"i gotta go find my baby" i said
"okay let me know something please" jalexis said
"okay" i said hanging up
i walked out the house and seen jai sitting in her car playing a car game on her phone
"baby come here" i said gentle
"no." she said stern
"mama come here" i said being patient
she got up and we walked back into the house and to her room
"baby come here" i said stern but gently
"ma'am" she said coming over and looking down at me

"its hard i dont want to" she said
"i know baby, but you cant keep holding it in talk to me dont shut me out" i said
"my gma died everyone talk about you and janiyah i just dont know what to believe anymore" she said rolling ip a blunt
"baby gimme this" i said taking the blunt

"i understand, i just got overwhelmed and overstimulated, and ian wanna talk no more, im sorry" she said looking disappointed
"baby come here" i said opening my arms
"i love you okay, i'll always be here but you cant keep shutting me out when things go wrong, lemme be here for you" i said while rubbing her back
"okay ma im sorry" she said
"don't say sorry just don't do what you usually do, you can't get high and ignore your feelings" i said looking at her
"okay mama im sorry" she said cuddling up to me
"its fine baby get some sleep" i said sitting up
"okay baby" she said laying on my lap
"i love you pretty girl" i said kissing her head and rubbing her back
"i love you more princess" she said wrapping her arms around my waist
