i got in my car and started driving to the school i arrived shortly after 6:20 and started walking into the gyy most of the team walked in behind me
"yall ready to win" coach said
"YES" we yelled in sync
"lets practice and show theses people we came to win" she said
"lets do it" we said
we practice for 45 minutes then the other team showed up and started practicing it was about 7:20ish and people started coming in so we went into the locker rooms and got into game outfits, we had all black with pink and green shoes to show our coach some appreciation for her being aka and all.
it was game time our last walk out sog was on everyone agreed on, which is not something we usally do, but it was drop it likes it hot by snoop, coach had opened the doors we all fixed ourselfs and we had 5 minutes before we had to run out and play our last game of highschool (most of the team is seniors) all the team capatains had to give a pre gae pep-talk it was my turn
"for most of us this maybe be our last time playing together as a team but at the start we was friiends but we have formed a family so let us come together today and bring home our last win of the seasons, a trophy to show not onlywhat we did but what we can do, put our school back on the map and remake our own history but this time we write it the way we want don't worry about what happened past games this is a new chance now go make me and everyone elsse proud lady huskies on team on me 1" i said putting my hand out
everyone else put their hand in
"team on me one" i said
"lady hsukies" they said in sync
"LETS GO WIN THIS GAME" jalexis said
we all shouted
our time was up we lined up by the starting five then everyone followed we heard the announcer say
"AND GIVE IT UP FOR OUR MAINN EVENT OUR HOME GRWIN LADY HUSKIESSS" he yelled into the mic
the cheerleaders lined up at the door it was silent till they started cheering
jalecis ran out first and everyone followed the blechers was packed out he had to sell out tickets as we ran out someone was throwing balls so we could show off tricks it wasn't so silent now that everyone seen our roster this year they was yelling and cheering then the other team mad a enterance
"give it up for the fearless dangerous, lady tigerssss" he saud dramticly into the mic
the oppsite blecher was going stupid theyy ran in and started showing off their tricks we had 10 minutes before the game started we just practies our plays making sure eveyrone knew what we was doing.
10 minutes went by and we was sitting on the chairs on the sidelines
"its time to play ball yall, lets start by introducing our guest"
their cheerleaders got up and it was a cheerleader standing in the middle while the others formed two lines for them ti run through
"For their starting five we got zariyah mrs shooting three's in your face mitchll, javria driving into the basket williams jordynn defending you in my sleep jackson, kaelyn cross you down martin, and finally makaila laying nothing but buckets johnson" he yelled with effects
as they got called they had personal dances with the head cheerleader
"Now for our home team starting five we got jai mrs does it all axom, jalexis hawk you down imani, tyliyah buckets in your face, dasia defend me at your own risk jones and janiyah play all in your face green" he yelled in the mic dramatically
we ran out and me and tyliyah did a back flip while jalexis did 3 flips after our backflip
"oou shit they lit" someone yeled from the bleachers
we did jump ball i jumped against zariyah we had ball first first play jalexis ran the ball down and passed to me and i did a pump fake and passed it to tyliayh and she knocked down a easy three, first quarter zoomed by it was 36-28 we had 36 they had 28 second quarter we was doing light stuff till it was 1 minute on the clock they was catching up jordynn was pressing on me and jalexis was trapped in the left corner i got jordynn to back up and i ran past and she passed the ball quick nobody seen it till i knocked down a sexy three from deep top right corner. zariyah had brought the ball down and was trying to run the clock so i swiped the ball and crossed her then ran down the court javria was down there but i did the ball movement that ihad been practicing and knocked her down and ran and did a dunk and swung from the rim till i flipped off the rim just as the buzzer buzzed i looked up at zaria and she was just smiling, she ran out the bleachers and hugged me
"making me proud" she said looking up at me with her big watery eyes
i put her down and ran to the locker room chugging down maybe twi water bottles and powerade
"we doing good just keep this shit up soon enough yall will be the new face of lady huskies class of 2025 im proud of every one you go bring home that trophy' she yelled
"LADY HSUKIES" we said in sync runing back out
i looked up and seen kathryn she looked beautiful as always she waved at me i blew her a kiss
third quarter was chill it was 65-59 we had 65 they had 59 ofc they started holding the ball so the time would run out the buzzer buzzed it wsa fourth quarter the starting five was back in the game they was in the lead by one point because the referee was calling any and everythig for them so they had hella free throws but i wasn't tripping ig it was the last couple of minutes the score was 72-74 we had 1 minute on the clock and it was their ball we was playing ard defense but they was holding the ball or passing it around till they shot it when they shot clock was about up but missed janiyah ran down the court and shot a three but missed kaelyn had the ball it was 20 seconds on the clock nobody has still scored at this rate we will lose by one point i couldn't let that happen everyone in the blechers was yelling i looked up at kathryn then zairah and then my ma her eyes looked worried i looked up to where my grandma would sit and pressed up on kaelyn till i swiped the ball with less than 5 seconds i only made it to half court i throw the ball and looked away i had already counted it as a miss because i didn't line it up or anything the crowed went quite and then everyone on husky side started cheering my teammates came and all jumped on me i looked back and seen the score 75-74
"I MADE THE SHOT" i yelled
"YOU MADE THE SHOT" jalexis yelled
i had tears in my eyes
"HUSKYS WIN HUSKYS WIN BY JUST ONE POINT FROM HALF COURT SHOT BY JAI AXOM" he yelled
i looked up and my ma was crying, kathryn had a tear in her eye i looked up and out the window it started raining and it was a full moon i swear i seen a tinkle in the sky i like to think it was my grandma telling me she was proud
a news reported walked up to me and mike came over with the mic
"so jai we have a couple of questions" she said
"ofc im all ears with a answer i hope" i said laughing
mike help the mic close enough to hear both of us
"so what were you thinking when you made that last play?" she asked
"well my teammates, they like family i couldn't let them down i seen a play and a way to execute but i thought of it to late it was pure luck it went in, it was time to make history but i wanted to write it my way' i said
"wow amazing answer do it for the team its no i in team" she said
"right we a family" i said looking back at them
they all saluted at me i saluted back
"is there a future in seeing you in college basketball? she asked
"as of right now no team as offered me a scholarship" i said
"any school your looking at?" she asked everyone looked close focusing their attention on me waiting on my reply
"well uhm UCLA is my number one, lSU is in a very close second and in third is sourth carolina" i said
"UCLA is a great choice what would your major be" she asked
"nursing ofc i watched my mom over there be a nurse everyday of my life and the stories she tell just light up my day and the thought following her steps makes me feel like a proud daugter say hey mom" i said point at her
"hello" she sais waving with tears in her eyes
"okay, being a athlete do you ever lose motivation if so how do you regain your motivation?" she asked
the question kinda hit hard it took me a while to respond
"well actually i lost motivation today, and lost the hope i has invested in myself, till i had a heart to heart talk with my bestfriend right over there jalexis, she made me see what i had infront of myself, also my wonderful girlfriend kathryn she's over there 613 beach waves, she doesn't know that a simple text message had a great influence on my preformance today, my mom up there reminded me that just because you don't feel like it doesn't matter it does and you can do anything you put your head to, i was worried about disapointint people but if i didn't play the way i did tonight then i would have only disapointed one person which is me, who matters the most, my twin siblings zar and dink im the person they look up to, they matter the most to me and i hold them close to my heart hearing them say there are proud of me means the wold to me, they are all my motivation" i said
"i love how you mention multiple people because you can't just pick one" she said
"they all kinda rely on each other in my mind they are all my people in different ways" i said smiling
"last question, if you had to make a speach to one person who would you pick" she asked
everyone instantly looked at my mom
"that is a easy question unfortunately she couldn't make it to the building tonight but i have a feeling she still watched from a far" i said looking up
"and who is it?" she asked
"its my grandma, she has been here since day one, and she's not in the building but i hold her in my heart, and if she was here i wouldhave to give her the biggest thank you for not giving up on me when, nobody belived in me, all of this is for her, she's my biggest motivation and its nobody else who can replace what she has invested in me" i said putting my hand on my heart
a tear slowly rain down my face i wipped it
"jai i hope we see more of you even if its from streetball, your a wholesome basketball player wishing big things for you" she said
" i appreciate it, but i didn't do it alone, you hve to give my team, my players, my sisters some credit" i said smiling at them
they ran over and we huddled up around her
"well folks you heard it here give it up for ou lady huskys" mike said
everyone startd cheering and we all started clapping
they turned the music and it was congratulations by post malone we ran off and started celebrating they gave us al tropys and the cheerleaders started cheering as we did flips, cartwheels, and jalexis did a backbend
everyone started leaving our coach gave us a post-game talk it was about her being proud i went to the locker room and got my bag
kathryn pov
i was so proud of my girlfriend a women walked up to me adn handed me a letter
"please give this letter to your girlfriend" she said walking away
what the fuck okay
i seen jai i ran into her arms
"im so proud of you baby" i said putting the letter in my purse
"thank you baby" she said
"come on your family is on the way to touch down for dinner" i said
"okay mama" she said putting her arm around me and kissing my head
she stopped walking and looked back at te basketball court
"im going to miss you" she said walking away holding my hand
we got to the car she opened my door and put my seatbelt on and put her bag in the trunk i opened her door and put her seatbelt on she drove to touchdown and we got their she took off her basketball shoes and outon her tasman uggs and kept her jersy on but put on her black nike tech on top she came around and opened my door we walked in and seen her family, jalexis, alexis, dasia, and tyliyah sitting down we all talked and jai had her arm around my neck i had tapped her hand
"yes mama" she said putting all her attention on me
"i love ypu baby" i said
"i love you more mama" she said kissing my cheek
we got our food and ate we was all eating desert and i remembered the letter
"oh this lady told me to give you this letter" i said pulling the letter out and handing it to her
"what is it" jalexis and my ma said at the same time
"i dont know" jai said
she opened it and read it
"oh shit, OH SHIT, YESSSSSSS"she yelled the whole restaurant looked at us
"I GOT A SCHOLARSHIP FROM UCLA" she yelled
ITS A FULLRIDE FOR NURING AND A SPOT ON THE BASKETBALL TEAM" she yelled
everyone cheered
she had tears coming out
"aww my baby good job baby, im so proud of you" i said pulling her into my chest and kissing her cheek and she hugged me tight
"thank you for not giving up on me ma"
"i would never baby" i said
they all told her how proud they all was we got up and lelft everyone hugged
"me and your dad is gonna try again so we will be moving back to macon, you don't have to be alone any more" her mom said
"he going to be moving in?" she asked
"yes, we going to giv us another try, we gonna start moving back in a week" she said
"okay, as long as your happy ma" she said hugging her
zaria and dink hugged her
"see you later on tonight" she said smiling
"i missed going to sleep in the same house, its going to be great having my family under one roof again" her mom said smiling
we left and walked to the car we got tp jai house and she walked into the house
"im going to shower baby" she said
"i love you baby im going to change into something more comfortable" i said they all

and went into the bathroom about 35 minutes later she came out and got into the bed with me
she laid on my chest and started watching tv with me i held her close
"one time when i was younger, my grandma stayed outside with me all day and didn't leave till i shot 5 three points back to back we was out there for 5 hours" she said i felt something wet on my stomach she was shaking
"its okay baby, she's proud of you" i said rubbing her head
"i wish she could have seen me tonight it would have made her so proud" she said curling up with her stuff animal she rolled her and got quiet
"come here baby" i said
she rolled her and laid on my thighs since i has set up
"stop hiding your pretty face" i said
she uncovred her face and i wiped her tears away
"talk to me baby" i said rubbing her face and moving her dreads out the way
"im honestly in so much pain, i miss her so muh i try to be happy on the outside because she use to say dont look like what your going through, but basketball just reminds me of her so much i just don't think it was fair why was she taken from me" she said holding back her tears
"baby its okay just let it out, im here, this is your safe place, you just gotta breathe" i said trying to calm her
we talked for abut a hour and i learned alot about her and her grandma why they was so close
i pulled her closer to me she rested on me i gently rubbed her back
"i love you prettygirl" i said
"i love you more baby"she said
her breathing slowed down and she drifted off to sleep she had tears falling out her eyes when she sleeped i whiped them away and kissed her face she was so perfect to me
i ended up watcghing t.v till i went to sleep
