The bell rang, signaling the end of the entrance exam. A collective sigh of relief echoed through the school halls as students poured out of their classrooms, their faces a mix of exhaustion and exhilaration. The weight of months of preparation had finally lifted, and the air buzzed with a palpable sense of freedom.

Taehyung stepped out of the classroom, his shoulders lighter than they’d felt in months. A smile tugging at his lips as he took in the sight of his friends gathered near the school gates.

Jimin was already bouncing on his toes, his energy seemingly boundless even after hours of intense testing. Yoongi leaned against the wall, looking as calm and collected as ever, though the faintest hint of a smile played on his lips.

Jin and Hoseok were animatedly discussing something, their voices carrying over the chatter of the crowd. Namjoon stood nearby, his expression thoughtful but relaxed, and Jungkook—Jungkook was scanning the crowd, his eyes lighting up when they landed on Taehyung.

“Tae!” Jungkook called, waving him over. “Over here!”

Taehyung made his way through the students, his smile widening as he approached the group. Jimin immediately threw an arm around his shoulders, grinning from ear to ear.

“We’re done!” Jimin exclaimed, shaking Taehyung slightly. “Can you believe it? No more late-night cramming, no more practice tests, no more math!”

“Speak for yourself,” Yoongi muttered, though there was no real bite in his tone. “I’m just glad I never have to look at another chemistry equation again.”

Jin chuckled, ruffling Jimin’s hair. “You say that now, but wait until you’re in college. It’s just more of the same.”

Hoseok groaned dramatically, clutching his chest. “Don’t ruin the moment, Jin. Let us have this.”

Namjoon laughed, shaking his head. “For what it’s worth, I think we all did well. Especially Taehyung.”

Taehyung blinked, caught off guard by the sudden attention. “Me?”

“Yeah, you,” Jungkook said, his voice warm. “You’ve been killing it lately. I’m proud of you.”

Taehyung felt his cheeks heat up, but he couldn’t help the smile that spread across his face. It was true—over the past month, he’d thrown himself into his studies, determined to make up for the time he’d lost. But more than that, he’d found a rhythm, a sense of stability that had been missing for so long. He’d stopped blaming himself for things he couldn’t control. He’d stopped feeling like he had to carry everything alone.

And it showed.

“Thanks,” Taehyung said, his voice soft but sincere. “I couldn’t have done it without all of you.”

Jimin grinned, squeezing his shoulders. “That’s what friends are for, right?”

“Right,” Taehyung agreed, his chest warm with gratitude.

The group fell into easy conversation as they walked away from the school, their steps light and carefree. For the first time in what felt like forever, there was no pressure, no looming deadlines, no weight of expectations. Just the seven of them, together, enjoying the moment.

“So,” Hoseok said, “What’s the plan now? We’ve got all the time in the world now.”

“Food,” Jimin said immediately. “I’m starving.”

Jin nodded. “We could go to that barbecue place near the park. Celebrate properly.”

“Sounds good to me,” Namjoon said.

The group cheered, their excitement infectious as they made their way to the restaurant. The walk was filled with laughter and lighthearted teasing, the kind of easy camaraderie that only comes from years of friendship. Taehyung found himself laughing along, his heart feeling lighter than it had in months.

At the restaurant, they piled into a booth, the table quickly filling with plates of meat, side dishes, and drinks. The atmosphere was lively, the conversation flowing effortlessly as they reminisced about the past year and joked about their future plans.

“I still can’t believe it’s over,” Hoseok said, leaning back in his seat. “It feels like just yesterday we were stressing over practice exams.”

“Speak for yourself,” Yoongi said, “I’ve been ready for this day since the first week of school.”

Jin chuckled, shaking his head. “You say that, but I saw you panicking over that last-minute review session.”

Yoongi glared at him, though the effect was ruined by the faint blush on his cheeks. “I wasn’t panicking. I was… strategizing.”

The group burst into laughter, the sound warm and familiar. Taehyung found himself smiling, his chest filled with a sense of contentment he hadn’t felt in a long time. He glanced at Jungkook, who was sitting beside him, and found him already looking back, his eyes soft and full of warmth.

“You okay?” Jungkook asked, his voice low so only Taehyung could hear.

Taehyung nodded, his smile widening. “Yeah. I’m good.”

Jungkook’s lips curved into a small smile, and he reached under the table to squeeze Taehyung’s hand briefly. “Good.”

The rest of the meal passed in a blur of laughter and good food, the group savoring the moment and each other’s company. As they left the restaurant, the sun was beginning to set, casting a warm golden glow over the city.

“This was fun,” Hoseok said, his voice filled with satisfaction. “We should do this more often.”

“Agreed,” Namjoon said, nodding. “Now that exams are over, we’ve got plenty of time.”

Taehyung smiled, his heart feeling full. For the first time in a long time, he felt like he was exactly where he was supposed to be—surrounded by people who cared about him, who supported him, who made him feel like he belonged.

As they walked home, the group’s laughter echoing through the quiet streets, Taehyung couldn’t help but feel a sense of hope for the future. He didn’t know what it held, but for the first time in a long time, he was excited to find out.
