“Our employees are starving to death, and those who are involved in national affairs are here talking nonsense. Damn it!”
A man rushed to the podium in an instant, the knife in his hand gleaming in the sun.
Instantly, Hee-joo recognized him as one of the protesters she saw at the entrance.
‘Huh…?’
Hee-joo, who was slow to react, had just raised her arms when the man with the knife suddenly fell down.
Just as her little nose hit Baek Sa-eon’s chest.
He hugged Hee-joo and kicked the man down mercilessly.
“In order to achieve a green recovery and transition to a low-carbon economy, we must actively cultivate the necessary science and technology—”
Baek Sa-eon’s kicks were precise and fierce, and the man who fell was quickly subdued by the security guard. Even as he was dragged away, he was still shouting loudly, but Baek Sa-eon was unmoved.
He really didn’t seem to lose his cool. From the beginning, his rhythm was not disrupted, and he continued to brief even while kicking.
So, Hee-joo's hands moved naturally.
The well-trained sign language was almost instantaneous.
Although her ears were buzzing and her legs were weak, Baek Sa-eon's consistent voice was like a line guiding her.
"- Sharing these technologies with developing countries is our mission."
But he never let go of his hand around her shoulders, and his eyes were only on Hee-joo, not the reporters, and he continued his briefing.
Slightly rapid breathing and sharp tone, even the angry eyes wandering on Hee-joo's face.
Unconsciously, the two were no longer standing side by side, but briefing face to face, this strange posture.
"It is difficult to achieve these sustainable development goals alone, so partnerships are essential."
This abnormality was not only noticed by them, but also by the reporters and the citizens watching. They were dumbfounded and talked about it.
After the briefing, applause of various meanings rang out.
Hee-joo nodded a little blankly, but her face was held firmly.
"Are you scared? Does it hurt?"
Only then did she breathe a sigh of relief.
Her breathing was rapid and she felt dizzy.
After checking her pulse in her ear, Baek Sa-eon cursed in a low voice: "That lunatic..."
"Calm down first, you briefed well."
This recognition alone made Hee-joo feel a surge of warmth.
Baek Sa-eon pulled her down from the podium, took her all the way to the lounge, and locked the door. Then, he hugged her tightly, who was emotionally agitated because of the shock.
"Since I met you, there is no place in this world that is not dangerous. Even if I leave you in the playground, I will be worried to death."
He rested his chin on the top of Hee-joo's head and hugged her tightly.
Completely immersed in Baek Sa-eon's arms, the familiar breath hit her face.
"Maybe it will be like this for the rest of my life."
He sighed softly, with a strange sweetness in his voice. His smooth cheeks rubbed slowly against Hee-joo's head.
The sound coming through his chest was as deep as a heartbeat. It was a feeling that belonged to the vast world.
