Y/N sat cross-legged on the living room floor, Sally cradled in her lap. The baby giggled at the funny faces Y/N was making, her laughter like the sweetest melody Y/N had ever heard. Raising Sally had been an unexpected challenge—she had never cared for a baby before—but it was moments like these that made the sleepless nights and constant guessing worthwhile.Sally's tiny hands reached for Y/N's face, her curious fingers tugging at her hair. Y/N chuckled, gently freeing herself from the baby's grasp before sighing. As much as she adored Sally, she couldn't deny that she was flying blind when it came to raising her. She needed advice, and one person came to mind immediately.
Picking up her phone, she dialed Nanami Kento.
Nanami answered almost instantly. "Y/N? Is something wrong?"
"Sort of," she replied, glancing at Sally, who was now chewing on her blanket. "I need your help. Can you come over?"
There was a brief pause on the other end. "I'll be there in a few minutes."
True to his word, minutes later, there was a knock at her door. Y/N opened it to find Nanami standing there, his usual calm demeanor in place. He stepped inside, immediately noticing the soft sounds of baby giggles from the living room.
"Thank you for coming," Y/N said, ushering him in. "I... I need your advice."
Nanami followed her into the living room, his eyes widening slightly as he saw Sally. "You have a baby?"
"It's a long story," Y/N said with a sheepish smile. She picked up Sally, who cooed happily at the sight of the new face. "This is Sally. I found her during a mission."
She gently placed Sally into Nanami's arms, surprising him. He hesitated for a moment but quickly adjusted his hold, cradling the baby with practiced care. Sally looked up at him with wide, curious eyes before letting out a delighted giggle.
"She likes you," Y/N said with a smile as she sat on the couch.
Nanami sat beside her, still holding Sally, his expression softening as the baby reached up to touch his tie. "Start from the beginning," he said.
Y/N took a deep breath and recounted everything—the mission at the abandoned building, the curses she'd destroyed, and the moment she found Sally crying amidst the rubble. As she spoke, she watched Nanami's expression shift from mild shock to thoughtful consideration.
"I couldn't leave her there," Y/N said, her voice soft. "She's half-curse, but she's just a baby. She didn't choose this life."
Nanami looked down at Sally, who was now chewing on his tie with great determination. "You did the right thing," he said after a moment. "But taking care of her won't be easy, especially if she's part curse. There will be challenges—both from her nature and from others who may not understand."
"I know," Y/N said. "But I couldn't abandon her. She's... she's family now."
Nanami nodded, his respect for Y/N growing even more. "You're a good person, Y/N. Sally is lucky to have you."
They sat in silence for a moment, the room filled only with the sound of Sally's soft coos. Then Nanami glanced at Y/N, his expression turning more serious. "What about Gojo? Does he know?"
Y/N sighed, her shoulders slumping slightly. "No. And he won't. Gojo and I... we got a divorce."
Nanami blinked, clearly caught off guard, though not entirely surprised. "I see. May I ask why?"
Y/N hesitated, the weight of her past with Gojo pressing on her heart. "He was... too much," she admitted. "I thought I could handle him, but his ego, his constant need for attention, his lack of boundaries—it was exhausting. I couldn't keep up. And honestly, I don't think he ever truly saw me for who I am."
Nanami was quiet for a moment, his gaze steady. "I'm sorry you went through that. But I'm not surprised. Gojo can be... difficult."
Y/N let out a soft laugh, her lips curving into a small smile. "That's putting it lightly."
Nanami shifted slightly, his voice taking on a gentler tone. "If you need anything, Y/N—anything at all—I'm here for you. You're not alone in this."
Y/N's smile widened, her heart warming at his words. "Thank you, Nanami. That means a lot."
They sat together for a while longer, talking about the practicalities of raising Sally and the challenges she might face. Nanami offered advice where he could, his calm and logical approach helping Y/N feel more confident in her decision.
As the evening wore on, Sally eventually fell asleep in Nanami's arms, her tiny form nestled against his chest. Y/N watched them with a soft smile, feeling a rare sense of peace. Despite everything, she knew she wasn't alone—not with Sally in her life and friends like Nanami by her side.
And for the first time in a long while, she felt like everything might just turn out okay.
