A/N - A brief Marjoreece Interlude as requested by @Born2Try85. I'm not really a Marjoreece writer but I think this was cute! Back to Wintumn next chapter (yes you'll see what they were up to without Rose). If you have things you want to see I'm more than happy to get requests. As always I hope you enjoy :)
If you'd have asked Autumn five years ago if she believed she would be living down the street from her brother by choice she would have said you were insane. After twenty years of hating her brother, dodging any attempt he made to contact her, and seeing him maybe three times a year between the Halloween ball and mandatory family dinners; they were now seeing each other every day.
Between time, their spouses, and their extended nursery family the two had been able to repair their broken bond and now it was stronger than ever. They'd done a lot of growing in the last five years and they done it together. Reece and Marjorie were there for Autumn and Winter in the darkest time of their life, but also in every one of their most joyous memories. They'd built an incredibly strong family, one they wouldn't trade for the world. And both couples had to admit it was nice having a free babysitter that was always nearly always willing to watch their daughter just a short drive away.
"Are you excited for your night with Uncle Reece and Aunt Marjorie, Bug?" Winter strapped Rose into her car seat, ready for the short drive down to the Knight house.
"Unnel Bish!" The little girl yelled excitedly, causing both of her parents to smirk as they tried desperately to hold back their laughter.
"No, little love. Uncle Reece." Autumn answered from the front seat, her voice steady. Her ability to keep a straight face coming in very handy at this moment.
Both Marjorie and Reece had asked that they at least try to convince Rose that her uncle's name was not, in fact, bitch. And Winter and Autumn had really tried. But as they all knew from years working in childcare, there was really no reasoning with a two year old. A fact proven once again as she burst through the door of the Knight house, her voice echoing through the halls.
"UNNEL BISH!"
The second Reece appeared around the corner, the little girl ran into his arms, giggling wildly as her favorite (and only) uncle gently tossed her into the air before holding her on his hip. He gave his niece a bright smile before shooting a frustrated look at his sister.
"Really Aut, she's still calling me that?"
"We did try to get her to stop, but she is my daughter after all. Insulting you is in her DNA. Have you considered not being such a –"
"Don't. I don't need you corrupting my daughter next. Two of you is more than enough."
A silent knowing look passed between Winter and Autumn which didn't go unnoticed. But before Reece was able ask any questions Marjorie's voice pulled his attention away. He always forgot everything else when she entered the room. And in this instance, he was glad he had. He was pretty sure he already knew the meaning behind that glance and he wasn't sure he was ready to think about the implications.
"Alright Autumn, Winter!" Marjorie made her way downstairs with Carly in her arms as the little girl echoed her greeting. Carly looked nearly identical to Reece, but she had started to pick up her mother's accent.
"Right Au-um! Winner!"
"Seriously?" Reece groaned as his attention now turned to Winter. "Your daughter calls me Uncle Bitch and my daughter calls you Winner?"
"I am sorry, Reece. But you know what they say?" Reece raised his eyebrow questioningly at Winter who had placed a supporting hand on his brother-in-law's shoulder. "Children are impeccable judges of character."
