madelaine stirs, furrowing her brows as she deeply inhales, waking from her sleep. "hm?" she hums, opening her tired eyes to see madison laying on her side, smiling wide.
"come on." she whispers.
"come on where? what time is it?" madelaine croaks, the sleepiness evident in her voice.
"let's go." madison giggles and shakes her gently.
madelaine pushes herself up onto her elbows and lets out a soft chuckle. "where are we going?"
"the beach." madison grins, kissing her cheek quickly then jumping out of the hotel bed. madelaine giggles and follows, pulling on some sweatpants and grabbing her phone before following her girlfriend out the door.
they walk down the quiet, chilly morning streets. it was dimly lit by the sliver of sunshine coming up from behind the horizon. they make it to the beach and take a seat on the beach towel madison brought. they sit and watch the color of the sky change from blue to orange to pink to yellow.
"this is beautiful." madison sighs in contentment.
madelaine smiles, resting her head on her shoulder as she looks over to her girlfriend, "not as beautiful as you." she smirks.
madison rolls her eyes and chuckles at the cheesy line, but places a kiss to madelaine's lips anyways. madelaine giggles softly then turns to look back at the sunrise over the ocean. however, madison keeps her eyes on the girl beside her.
her eyes wander over madelaine's face, taking in all of the freckles, dimples, curves and colors. she was in awe of just how gorgeous she was.
"you're gonna miss it." madelaine says, realizing madison wasn't watching the sunrise anymore. when she earns no response, she looks to her again, the expression on her face unreadable. her eyebrows slightly furrowed and mouth curled downward.
"madison? are you okay?" madelaine asks, placing her hand on top of hers.
"i love you." madison blurts, making her girlfriend blink a couple times.
after realizing she didn't just imagine those words, madelaine smiles wide. "maddie, i love you." she admits, her eyes slowly welling up with tears.
madison giggles, wrapping her arms around the girl and bringing her in for a hug. after squeezing tight, she pulls away just enough to kiss her gently, her hand cupping the side of her face. "god, i've wanted to say that for so long." she smiles.
"me too." madelaine chuckles, sniffling softly.
