chapter twenty-two:

the wedding

THE SUN lit up the adorned backyard with golden rays. intricately designed fountains outside of the italian hillside villa greeted the guests.

the peaceful sounds of the ocean created a serene environment as everyone entered. the clicks of heels and dress shoes could be heard as guests walk down the cobblestone path from the staircase to the rows of white chairs sitting out on the lawn.

the backyard of the ornate manor was secluded by fresh hedges and blooming flowers. the gentle rush of the breeze flew through the overhanging trees as small conversations take up space in the garden. family members, cast mates and old friends alike were excited for the big day. it was a day of love, of union and of devotion.

the delicate harp begins to play as the wedding party descends the stairs. the families of madelaine and madison walk through first. they take their seats before cami and jonathan walk down the aisle together as maid and man of honor, both wearing sandy shades as tan as the beach nearby. they smile widely at the guests and move to their spots on either side of the wooden arbor.

then, the wedding song. every head turned to look to the top of the staircase as the two brides came into view.

madelaine and madison both dressed in white dresses, the trains flowing behind them. their hands were clasped together, radiant smiles grinning wide at each other and to the guests.

"ready to do this?" madison whispers as she takes a deep breath.

madelaine smiles, looking to her fiancé. "i am so ready to marry you." she says, giving her hand that familiar, affectionate squeeze.

they descend the stairs and walk through the symphony of friends and family waiting to watch them declare their love to each other. sniffles and sighs could be heard as they passed, all eyes on the two brides.

madelaine clears her throat as she takes the small slip of paper cami holds out for her: her vows.

"it's surreal that we're standing here, in front of each other, dressed in white. i don't think anyone would believe us if two years ago, we told them that this is where we'd be— and not because you were in another relationship, but because i was so nervous around you that i could barely speak," she earns a chuckle from the crowd as madison smiles at her in adoration, tears already brimming.

"but holy shit, has those two years been the greatest of our lives, you've made me feel loved in ways that i didn't even know existed. i am so lucky i get the privilege to be your wife. there is no one i'd rather spend the rest of my life beside than you, madison bailey," she pauses to smile softly at madison, her own tears beginning to fall.

"i love you, madison, and i will always choose you." she finishes and smiles softly at madison as tears escape from her own eyes.

"wow," madison sniffs, wiping a tear off of her cheek. "gonna be hard to top that." she says, making the crowd laugh. she takes her own little piece of notebook paper from jd before taking a deep, shaky breath.

"the kindest soul i've ever met, the brightest smile i've ever seen or the most gentle compassion i've ever received still would do no justice as to describe my fiancé," she tilts her head and smiles.
