"Mikey! Mikey what's wrong?" I rushed after him, grabbing his wrist. He shook me off and turned around abruptly.
"Why didn't you answer my calls?" he whispered so quietly, I could barely hear.
"What?"
"WHY DIDN'T YOU ANSWER MY FUCKING CALLS?!" he closed the gap between us, his eyes glared deep into mine. I noticed his fists shaking violently, his jaw twitched in anger.
"I..uh..I couldn't." My voice was trembling, I had never seen this side of Mikey, so angry. I backed up against the lockers behind me as he moved closer and closer. His hands rested on the lockers either side of my head.
"ANSWER ME!" He shouted in my ears, making me wince.
"Mikey, I felt embarrassed after the meal, I didn't know what to say to you, I'm so-rry." His eyes softened for a split second and he glanced down at his feet. Then his fist connected with a locker on one side of me. I squeaked in surprise a tear threatening to fall.
"People always get in the way, every single time." He spoke only to himself as he wandered thoughtfully around the empty corridor. He stopped and stared at me for a few moments until he strutted over to me. I retreated back against the lockers once again, his eyes seemed brighter than before, a cheery smile on his face.
"I'm sorry I scared you." he whispered softly into my ear and engulfed me in his arms. I stood confused at his sudden mood swing and returned the gesture.
"It's okay." I smiled weakly when he cupped my face in his cold palms.
"Meet me after school? I have band practice and I really want you to come." he grinned in excitement.
"Sure." he gazed at me with a warming smile.
"Great, I'll meet you after your last class." I nodded and watched him disappear round a corner, leaving me alone in the corridor.
I decided to ditch my nearly finished class and collect my bag at lunch. I walked slowly towards the end of the corridor until I was yanked by the arm into an empty classroom.
"Hey! Are you okay? I overheard you and Michael in the corridor, I'm sorry for eavesdropping but it seemed pretty intense." Mr Sumpter wore a worried expression, waiting for my reply.
"Um, I'm fine...thanks. Nothing to worry about Mikey just got a bit stressed about the work that's all." I gave him a forced smile of which he gave me an unconvinced look.
"Didn't sound like it was to do with the work, you can tell me Millie."
"Yep, I will keep that in mind thanks for the chat I really have to be going now." I stood and rushed towards the door.
"It's none of my business, but are you and him, together?"
"Well if it's none of your business, then why are you asking?" He shrugged,
"Just curious."
"It's a bit complicated." I earned him a chuckle,
"Usually is." he replied with a smirk.
