Chapter 7

Seungmin was a bundle of nerves. Today was the first day of college, but all he could do was sit on his bed and just stare at the door. He needed to get up, but for some reason, he was anxious about this new beginning. He didn't have his parents or brothers around to encourage him. He was all alone. Well, there is Jeongin.. he thought. But I don't want to burden him.

Jeongin stirred, slowly sitting up and looking around the room. He noticed Seungmin sitting at the edge of his bed holding onto his Sammy plush, just staring at the door. His brows furrowed, and he got out of bed, going to his roommate and sitting next to him. "Morning, Minnie. You okay?" His voice a little deeper than usual.

Seungmin looked over, a small frown on his face. He didn't trust his voice, so he nodded his head. "I don't believe that." Jeongin breathed out, "What's wrong, baby?" The boy whined but spoke up quietly, barely above a whisper, "Mm, 'm nervous.."

Jeongin wrapped his arms around his roommate, "It's okay to be nervous, Minnie. But you know what?" Seungmin looked up at Jeongin, curious. "I'm nervous, too, but I've got some amazing friends and a super sweet roommate, and together, I know I'll get through the first day with no problems."

Seungmin smiled just a little. He thinks I'm sweet? "But.. I don't have any friends.." Seungmin replied. "Yet." Jeongin added. The boys smiled and looked at one another. "You've got this, Minnie. I know you'll have a wonderful day." Jeongin tickled the boy's side, earning himself a cute laugh from his roommate.

"Now, why don't you go get ready while I make some breakfast? Or, we could go to the cafeteria and see what they have to eat?" Jeongin suggested. Seungmin thought for a moment, "Yeah, I don't want to make you cook on the first day." Jeongin giggled, "You're so thoughtful, Minnie." He paused, "Now go get ready, sweetheart." He tapped Seungmin's thigh and got up to go to his closet.

Seungmin watched his roommate walk away, and then he got up, getting some clothes, and went to take a quick shower. When he was finished getting ready, Jeongin took a shower. Seungmin sat on his bed, looking over his schedule. He grabbed his phone as it went off, seeing he had a new text message. He clicked the notification, and he smiled.

Mommy:
Happy first day, honey!
I know you'll do great.
I love you
❤️

Seungmin:
Thanks mom!
I love you too
I miss you so much

Mommy:
I miss you too, my sweet boy

Seungmin was happy, but his eyes filled with tears. Jeongin walked out of the bathroom to see his roommate on the verge of crying. Nuh uh, absolutely not, Jeongin thought. He breathed in real quick to calm down before he spoke, trying to soften his voice. He didn't want to upset his roommate. "Minnie, what's wrong, sweetie?" Seungmin looked up and rubbed his eyes, "Oh, Jeongin. I-I'm okay. I promise." Jeongin raised one brow and looked at Seungmin confusedly. "My mom texted me, and I just got emotional.." The boy trailed off, his voice getting quieter the more he spoke.

Jeongin's eyes turned into crescents as he smiled at Seungmin. "You're too cute, Seungminnie." He ruffled the boy's hair and went to put his clothes in his hamper. "So, you about ready to go get some breakfast before class?" Jeongin asked.

Seungmin smiled and nodded, standing up from his bed and grabbing his backpack after he tucked in his Sammy plush. He waited at the door for Jeongin, and then together, they walked to the cafeteria.

The roommates got their food and sat down at a table. Seungmin ate his blueberry muffin slowly while Jeongin began taking bites of his rice porridge, almost burning his tongue with how hot it was.

After they ate and threw their trash away, Jeongin asked what class Seungmin had first. "Um, Basics of Marine Life." The boy said. Jeongin hummed, "Okay, I'll walk you there. Let's go!" Seungmin smiled, and they walked to his first class.
