I bumped the door open to my office with my hip, holding another huge pile of files including the one on Jason. This was sure to become a regular thing, I liked the fact I was in charge for a while but shit, I feel like a seventy year old woman carrying all these files round constantly, opening doors with body parts that shouldn't open doors.

I dumped the files on my desk before taking off my black leather jacket, placing it over my chair. I paused for a second, leaning against my chair letting out a deep sigh. Walking round to the front, I picked up Jason's file and stared at if for a while, before slowly opening it to reveal his mugshot.

I scanned through the file re reading everything I found on my records. A knock sounded at my door, I turned to see Abby and Jason. Quickly, I placed the file underneath the rest,"come in"I called, Abby obeyed, bringing Jason with her.

"Miss Rees, Mr McCann insisted he come to see you. I was gonna ring but, he just barged up here I-"

"It's fine Abby, thank you." I nodded, sending her a thankful smile. Abby stepped a side letting Jason in, I stood there with one hand on my hip as she closed the door behind her. Silence filled the room as Jason stood there, staring at me. I looked away, running my tongue over my teeth. He cleared his throat, catching my attention,"well?" I asked, raising my eyebrows slightly. He pinched the bridge of his nose with his left hand, as his right one dug into his pocket.

"I'm sorry," he spoke, the apology evidently truthful.

"For?" I questioned, as he looked at me licking his lips,"wait no I'll answer that,"I paused, walking towards him slowly "for lying to me,leaving me without any explanation what so ever?" I paused again, taking a quick look at my nails,"and for trying to pull the wool over my eyes"

"What the fuck are you talking about?" He scoffed, looking me up and down. I shook my head becoming more and more annoyed.

"You know what I'm talking about Jason, don't act dumb. How dare you even think about lying to me, especially about the things you have done." I ranted.

"I really don't know what you are talking about," Jason pushed, making my blood boil.

"Are you fucking kidding me!" I shouted, before lowering my voice after realising the amount of people on the same floor as us "you're honestly gonna sit there and lie to someone who has studied law and has dealt with thousands of different cases? Do you think I'm that fucking stupid?" I stressed, pointing to my brain.

"Calla, you're not making any sense," Jason chuckled, his eyebrows furrowed together. I took a deep breath before turning round. Walking towards my desk I picked up Jason's file from the bottom of the pile holding it up next to my head. He shifted a little, his body becoming more tense,"I might not be making any sense, but the document right here makes perfect sense to me, why are you lying to me?" I asked calmly.

"I can't explain."

"What do you mean you can't explain,Jason? Or should I say Joseph?" I spat, throwing the file at him. Papers flew out from the pocket holding them together landing in front of Jason's feet. His most recent mugshot facing upwards,he bent down slowly, picking it up from the ground. His eyes scanned it for a second before ripping it up into tiny shreds. I stood there, my eyes wide as I watched him," Jason-what? What are you doing? Are you actually insane?"

"That isn't me!" He shouted, the colour draining from his face," that isn't fucking me! Who is that? That isn't me!" He repeated frantically continuing to rip up the tiny shreds into even smaller ones. His voice strong and loud. Quickly, I ran over to him taking the paper from his hands throwing it onto the floor.

"Stop!" I shouted, taking his hands in mine. He looked into my eyes, before bursting into tears,"hey, hey. Don't cry" i pulled him into a tight him, making sure I comforted him. Why was he this mad? I expected him to get mad but not to the point where he would cry. I never thought a guy who was capable of murder would break down in front of me, he doesn't know me from Adam. I could easily run to the authorities and turn him in.

He pulled away wiping the tears from his eyes, suddenly he turned, pulling the door open making it slam against the wall. Running after him, my heels clicked against the marble floor of the building,"Jason!"I called as he quickened his pace.

He ran down the miles of stairs faster than a formula one car on its track, following behind him I ran faster through the hallways before we reached the reception. Jason turned around to face me, pulling a gun from the waist band of his pants.

"Step back," he shouted, pointing the gun towards my face, he stood about three metres away. Holding my hands up I saw people duck behind their desks screaming for help, he began to shake as tears fell down his cheeks ",I swear to god Calla I will fucking shoot if you come closer. I told you that wasn't me , you don't believe me."

"I do believe you jason" I defended myself," but right now you're putting even more doubt in my mind."

"My mom would have never called me out like you just did,"

"I didn't call you out! I simply questioned who the hell you are and why you are lying to me" I argued, slowly lowering my arms while stepping closer to him," talk to me jase, I know we've only known eachother for a day or two but you can talk to me. I can help you."

"I don't need help!" He stressed as he began to press down the trigger, I quickly raised my hands pushing the gun away as he shot a picture hanging from the wall next to us, screams echoed throughout the room we stood in. Our eyes met , "why are you doing this to me!" He called, dropping the gun. His hands began to pull at his hair as I bent down to pick up the gun.

Around us, people lay on the group with their hands covering their heads. I had no doubt in my mind that Jason needed some help, wether that be from me or someone else. Police sirens sounded as armed officers stormed into the building, screaming and shouting ,my breath hitched as they took Jason hands, cuffing them without any struggle. He looked at me, I looked at him. His eyes asked me to do something, but right now I couldn't. bursting into tears I dropped the gun to the ground. An officer picked it up as another officer placed her arm over my shoulder, walking me towards a seat before attempting to calm me down.

They lead Jason away, I watched as his head was lowered into the car while he continued to look at me . What just happened?
