We sat on separate couches in silence. We being Jason, warren and I. Warren was on his 4th cigarette since we got back and has spent the past hour staring at the roof. Jason kept catching my eye, when he did I looked away and back down to my hands that rest in my lap. Jason cleared his throat, I looked at him, "do something" I mouthed to him. He reached down and began to take his shoes off, he threw them across the room. Warren stayed focused on the roof. "Sooo.." Jason dragged out, warren looked at him and put out the cigarette he was holding, "so" he sighed. I looked at warren, he leaned forwards, his elbows resting on his knees. "Cut the shit bro what's up?" Jason asked unexpectedly. I shot him a glare.
"Nothing" warren spoke bluntly once again, running his hands down his face. "Clearly not, love. You can talk to us you know" I sympathised, Jason watched me and so did warren, "what?" I asked "you should go, Calla" warren spoke, "what why?" "What why?!" Jason copied, annoyance in his tone of voice. "I need to talk to you alone Jason." Warren spat, Jason stood up, I followed him with my eyes as he made his way over to warrens couch, "you can talk to me whilst she's here" Jason defended as he sat down, he patted warren on the back.
He wasn't impressed and scooted away from Jason, "the fuck bro?" Jason shouted. "Alone" warren emphasised, I got the hint. I stood up and began to walk towards the door, "wait no don't go" Jason followed quickly, grabbing a hold of my wrist, I smiled at him. "talk to warren, Jason. I'll see you soon" "no,stay" "Jason" I tugged my arm from his grasp, I wasn't mad. I understood warren wanted to be alone and to be able to speak to Jason without my ears around.
I unhooked my coat from the hat rack where warren had placed it before we left to collect Jason. It was dry now, I took Jason's hoodie off, his gaze was fixed on me as I did so. He licked his lips as I held the hoodie out to him, "here" I held it. "Keep it" he replied, he looked hurt at my decision to leave without a fight. "You know where to find me, just don't enter the building without making yourself look different or else you won't be allowed in" I giggled slightly at him, referring to the incident at my work, "I'll see you soon" "yeah" he replied, his voice emotionless. With that, I left.
----
It had been at least a month since I'd last seen the boys, the cops had stood down on patrol of our building as no threat was seen to be present anymore. Which was true because the threat wasn't even present in my life at the minute. My boss had returned from her vacation but decided she was going to work mostly at our LA branch for the rest of the year because it needed help from higher management, meaning I was pretty much in charge of the NY branch and was more stressed out than ever before. I wasn't alone of course, I had other management helping me and advising me but main decisions were left to myself to deal with. However, some good news was that my boss wasn't mad at me for what happened with Jason, she knows I have some sort of personal connection with him but she doesn't know who he is or why what happened, which honestly neither did I, but I hadn't seen Jason so I couldn't ask. She was more pissed at the fact somebody with a gun got into the building so she brought in a couple more security guards etc.
Being 'promoted' meant I had a new office on the top floor, a floor to myself. The office was similar to my last with glass windows looking over New York, but this time I had a separate room attached to my office with a tv and sofa in it- along with a mini fridge. I was too busy to even dream about going in there to relax recently. With the promotion came a new assistant, but I refused to let Abby down so I brought her with me , she was amazing so I didn't see a reason why I shouldn't let her stay as my assistant.
I sat at my desk thinking about Jason, a pen being flipped between my fingers as I thought. My head looking down at a case I was working on, although wasn't focused on. I had a cold coffee next to me too, coffee was my everything and I hadn't even thought about drinking it. How dare I betray my true love. Jokes. This guy was really on my mind, but for what reason you may ask? Well I don't know. I wanted to ask about why he flipped that day in my office but I didn't wanna fetch up his rage again, that is something I'll do when we're more comfortable with each other. I put emphasis on when because I hadn't seen him in so long.
A knock sounded on the glass of the door to my office hitting me out of my thoughts, "Come in" I shouted, not looking up from the file on my desk. I put my pen down and ran my hands down my face waiting for the person to enter. "Hey, sor-" "Jason!" I exclaimed, my head snapped up at the sound of his voice. I caught myself and cleared my throat, " I mean, hey" I corrected. "Slick" he chuckled, entering my office closing the door behind him. I stood up and walked to the side of my desk, "shut up" I blushed, he walked towards me but stopped a few feet in front of me.
I watched him as he placed his hands in his suit pockets, "you look good" he complimented, "why do you always wear a suit when you come here?" I questioned, ignoring his compliment. He smiled, making his way over to me. My eyes met his again as he placed his hand on my hip, my body became hot as it always does when he touches me. I stood back making his hand fall to his side, "spoilt sport" he pouted, "I'm at work, what do you want?" " to see you " he simply replied.
"I don't wanna see you" I lied. "Yes you do" "no I don't" "your reaction when I walked in here said other wise" he smirked, I folded my arms and rested one leg on the desk next to me. "I wanna get to know you" he expanded, "you've done your research" I pointed out, he cleared his throat as he stepped towards me again. I brushed a strand of hair behind my ear as I looked up at him, " yeah, but only what your company profile told me" "my company profile didn't tell you about my parents, Mr Intellectual " I pointed out, biting the inside of my cheek. "Touché" he agreed. I wanted nothing more than to hug this boy right now, the rush my body endures when he touches me tells me my body wants him more than my mind does. But i couldn't let my guard down, not yet anyway.
"I wanna punch you in the face" I mumbled, Jason looked at me with furrowed eyebrows as he tried to make out what I said. "Damn" he laughed, "I've missed you" he stated, "you've only seen me like three times, how did you get in here anyway, Abby never called me" I questioned, he shrugged "doesn't matter". Sighing, I stood up and walked to the other side of my desk, brushing shoulders with him as I passed. He watched me as I grabbed my phone off the desk and handed it to him, "text me, we can meet some other time. I'm busy" I lied. Well not really, I was busy but I could easily make time for him. Can't be showing him I'm easy to get though can I. He took the phone from my hands and typed my number into his.
"You've wasted your time coming here" I stated as he handed my phone back to me, " I haven't" "you have" "I haven't, I got to see you and I got your number without even asking so." He was right, this trying to not make myself look easy thing really wasn't going to plan. I Placed my hands on his shoulders and turned him around, pushing him towards the door. He began to laugh, "I'll call you then shall i? Talk soon?" "Only if I pick up" I smirked, opening the door and pushed him out the room. He jolted forwards before looking back at me, he bit his lip trying to stop the smile on his face growing. I closed the door and waved through the glass at him. Fuck this boy intrigues me.
