Antwon's POV
Today is finally the day. We're going to prom tonight. One big milestone just brings us even closer to another. After tonight, we're another step closer to graduation.
But that's a thought for a later date. For now, I need to focus on prom.
I laid on my stomach in Rodney's bed, kicking my feet as I watched him pull a pill container from his nightstand. "What are those?" I asked curiously.
He glanced back at me, then started to smile before he quickly looked away. He thinks I can't tell when he's blushing—He makes it obvious. "Uh... Antidepressants, anxiety and panic meds, appetite stimulants, adderall, and some vitamins." He explained as he poured the pills into his palm. "Clinical depression, generalized anxiety, ADHD, PTSD—It's like someone threw a bunch of disorders into a pot and said 'Yeah this'll make a stable human being'." He rolled his eyes, then tossed the pills into his mouth, swallowing them down with some water.
I chuckled and shook my head. "I mean, all things considered I think you're pretty stable."
He gave me a look, then shook his head as well. "I hated and bullied your best friend because he had your attention. That's not stable." He pointed out.
I squinted at him, then nodded. "Fair point." I chuckled. "But still. It seems like you've been through some tough stuff, Roddy. All things considered, you came out really good."
Rodney flashed me a small smile and shrugged. "Shout out to my therapist and a lot of drugs." He said while shaking his pill container before he placed it back in his drawer. He then leaned back to rest on his elbows and looked at me. "How you feel about tonight?" He asked, looking into my eyes for a moment before he looked away.
Cute.
I let out a sigh and shrugged as I reached out to start playing with his hair. "I'm excited to go with you three. Excited to see my friends again, too—I've kinda been neglecting them with everything my family has been going through, then preparing for prom and graduation and everything with college..." I trailed off, waving my hand to get myself back on track. "It's kinda bittersweet, though. With what my dad's going through, and I'm still mad at him for the stuff with my mom, and then I'm sad that Ty won't be there... But everyone else will be, so I can't complain too much."
Rodney nodded in agreement. "It's definitely bittersweet." He agreed. "I wish more than anything that my mama could be here to see me off, but... Ion know. I'll get some pictures sent to her." He muttered, trailing off for a bit before he blinked and focused again. "I'm glad to be goin' wit' y'all though. Plus I get to see my boys. They been clownin' me in the GC since I been spendin' all my time wit' y'all." He chuckled.
"I feel you." I laughed. "Everytime I check in on my friends they all gang up on me, talking about me and my 'three boyfriends'." I chuckled.
Rodney grinned and shook his head. "Then you got Zavier goin' around claimin' us to anybody who'll listen."
I chuckled and nodded my head. "Just happy as hell telling everybody that we're his."
Like he could feel us talking about him, Zavier excitedly came into the room seconds later. "Roddy!" He said as he climbed into his lap. "Dude! Dude!" He repeated while shaking his shoulders.
"Hi, Zavier." Rodney said calmly as he was shaken. "What's up, babe?"
"Dude!" Zavier repeated with wide eyes.
"I know right?" Rodney nodded, chuckling quietly as he placed his hands on Zavier's hips. "Prom night."
"Prom night, Roddy!" Zavier exclaimed excitedly. "Prom! Night!" He continued loudly. "I've been waitin' like a thousand years Roddy!"
