Warning! Spicy chapter plus Awkwardness.
Kade awoke in a tent. At first, he was confused since the trio had been sleeping out in the open, but then he remembered the humans and shot up.
"Kade wait! It's alright!" Aino was at his side, grasping his shoulders and keeping him from running off.
Recognizing the Terran, Kade sat back down. The tent he was in was different from the human ones. For example, this one was made of a green material. "Where did this come from?" He asked.
The space inside was big enough for four people, and a bed was made by placing a blanket over a pile of leaves and grass. A small oil lamp hung from the center to provide light.
"Dapp set it up. It helps camouflage us from predators so that we can stay in one place longer. We didn't use it before since there weren't supposed to be any around here."
"Oh, wait! We have to go! We need to warn the king immediately!"
Aino started pushing Kade back into a laying position. Now the human realized he was completely naked, and Aino was holding a damp cloth. "We need to wait until you get your full strength back. Besides, Dapp scouted ahead and said he'd be back by morning. We can't go anywhere without him."
"Why would he do that? We need to go!" He tried to sit up again but was stopped.
Aino was looking sternly at him. "You need to rest. You were exhausted and dirty. I've cleaned you up but you still need more sleep. And Dapp said there was a chance we'd run into the Twilup pack again if we went the same way back, so he's looking for a safer route. But it's too dangerous to bring amateurs like us. So we need to wait."
Kade stopped fighting, understanding the guide's decision. But as soon as Dapp returned, Kade would take the lead if necessary to get them as far away from the humans as possible.
Aino gently placed the wet cloth onto Kade's stomach, causing the human to jolt. "Once you're better rested I'll help tame your hair."
Feeling stubborn, Kade sat up. "I can do that now."
"Why are you being so temperamental? If anything, I should be the one acting this way."
"And why is that?" Kade shot back, but one look from Aino reminded him that the Terran was traveling mid-season and dealing with side effects from an untested drug. "Oh. Right. Sorry."
"It's alright." He climbed behind Kade and started preening him. The man's fingers through his hair was comforting. As strong as Terrans could be, the man was exceptionally gentle, and Kade had to fight to keep himself from falling back asleep.
After a while, he felt Aino's lips on his neck. They were warm and pressed carefully without much intent. Then Aino's arms wrapped around his waist.
"You're not a monster," Aino whispered, as his hands traced patterns across Kade's stomach and chest. "You've helped the kingdom so much with your inventions. You've made my life more interesting. You've captured everyone's admiration. Never think you are less than amazing."
These words of encouragement both embarrassed and surprised Kade, who leaned his head over so Aino could move his lips up toward his ear. Aino's breath tickled his skin, and his hands blazed trails along his body.
It was dark out, and Dapp wouldn't be back for hours. It wasn't like they had anything better to do.
Turning around, Kade captured Aino's lips and wrapped his arms around his neck. The two embraced, humming softly, soaking up each other's presence. Then Kade leaned back until he was lying down, with a hungry Aino over him.
