Chapter 17: A Day In Riverdale

Veronica

I quickly put Ruby down and answered as I walked outside

(On the phone)

Veronica- "daddy?" Hiram- "hey Mija" Veronica- "y-you haven't called me in months" Hiram- "your mother wanted me to reach out-" Veronica- "good to know you didn't want to" Hiram- "you didn't let me finish Veronica, and I felt I should. We miss you Veronica" Veronica- "I-I miss you too" Hiram- "how about we come visit? Let's say a week from today?" Veronica- (smiles) "I'd a-actually really like that dad, I-I have to go. I'll text you my new address"

(Off the phone)

Betty- "Ve? You okay?" She came up and rubbed my shoulder as I wiped a tear of my face. Betty- "hey what happened" she pulled me into a hug. Veronica- (sniffles) "I'm not sad, just a little confused" Betty- "you can tell me anything" Veronica- "my dad called me, he and my mom want to see me again" Betty- "Ve! Isn't that good news?" Veronica- "I mean I guess, I just, I hope they've changed at least a little bit"

She hugged me tightly before we headed back inside. Ruby- "Aunt Roni!" She ran over and hugged my legs which definitely made me feel better. I picked her up as Betty tickled her tummy. Ruby- (laughs) "aunt Betty!" Polly- "Alright Ruby, Eli, let's go get you two ready. We're taking aunt Betty and Veronica to Pop's!" Betty- "yes! I've been craving a cheeseburger and fries" we all chuckled at her as she crossed her arms. Betty- "hey! I'm aloud to want things" Veronica- (laughs) "come on, let's go get changed"

I took her hand and led her upstairs. Betty- "you promise you're okay about the phone call?" Veronica- "yes, I promise, it just stunned me. My parents have never reached out to me like that" Betty- "maybe that means they're turning over a new leaf" Veronica- "I hope so, I don't want you to be around them if they haven't." Betty- "I can handle anything Ve, I want to make sure you know that" Veronica- "and I want to make sure that you know that I love you, and I just want to protect you and the baby"

She smiled and took my hand. She used her other hand to rub my cheek. Betty- "everything is going to be okay" Veronica- "I know, I'm just stressed about everything I guess" Betty- "but you're okay.. with everything?" She looked down at her stomach as I quickly grabbed her hand. Veronica- "Betty, please don't think I'm stressed out about the baby. I am so excited to raise him or her with you or hell even them. I'm stressed about my parents"

She smiled and stroked my cheek with her thumb. Betty- "oh, by the way.. I booked the first doctors appointment. I know we'll have the twins but I should make sure I'm doing everything right" Veronica- "will they be able to tell if you're having more than one?" Betty- "I don't know, maybe" Veronica- "well as long as everything is going smoothly, it doesn't matter to me" I smiled and kissed her

We got ready and walked to the diner with everyone

Betty

While we were walking, Veronica and my mom took the twins up ahead so I was able to talk to Polly.

Polly- "so Be, are you happy? Excited!" Betty- "both? I mean I was scared that it was.. his, but I'm excited to have a baby with Ve" Polly- "I'm happy for you Betty" I looked up and smiled at Veronica who had Ruby on back and was talking with Elliot. Betty- "I can't believe she's gonna be my wife, I love her so much" Polly- "you two are the happiest couple I think I've ever met" I smiled. Betty- "oh, and we were gonna ask if we could take the twins back to New York with us, just for a few days. You know, to dip our toes in" Polly- "oh my god yes please, I need a week break"

I smiled as she laughed. Betty- "I'll tell Ve when we get home."

We walked the rest of the way to Pop's

When we got to the diner, we found a booth that could fit all of us. The twins were so excited to show Veronica everything on the menu. I was pretty hungry myself and as a result I ordered the most food out of everyone

We finished eating and went home with Polly carrying Eli and Veronica carrying Ruby. They were both sound asleep and it was the cutest thing ever watching Veronica try to not wake her up

Betty- "you're so cute with them" Veronica- "they're so cute! I can't wait for my arms to be tired from our little one" Betty- (smiles) "you're going to be amazing with our babies" Veronica- "we've never really talked about what comes after, I know we have a lot to do.. but do you think we're gonna have more kids?" Betty- (laughs) "maybe, but can we deal with this or these ones first?" Veronica- (chuckles) "yeah you're right, I love you" Betty- "I love you too"

We got back to the house and helped put the twins to bed meaning we got a chance to talk to Polly and my mom for a bit

Polly- "so, scoop. Wedding details?!" Betty- (laughs) "not yet Pol, we were gonna wait till we have our little one or ones" Polly- "right, the gene. Do you think it's going to happen?" Betty- (sighs) "I don't know, I can't tell yet" Veronica- "but no matter what, we'll get through it together"

She grabbed my hand and smiled. Betty- "exactly, and besides.. I've always wanted a big family" Alice- "I know your dad's smiling down at you. He would've loved be here" Betty- "I wish he was able to walk me down the aisle"

I had been thinking of ways to include my dad in my wedding but I didn't know how yet. It made me sad that he wasn't here but I know he'd want me to be happy on my special day

Alice- "well it's getting late, I'm gonna head up to bed" Polly- "me too, I love the twins but they can be exhausting" Betty- (smiles) "I can't wait till I get to say that" Veronica- "yeah the saying it gonna be fun, feeling it is a different story"

We laughed before we headed up to our bedrooms

Veronica- "so, how's the bean and or beans?" She placed her hands on my stomach before kissing it. Betty- (smiles) "could you be anymore adorable?" Veronica- (smirks) "maybe, when there's a baby in my arms" Betty- "I can't wait to see that" I used my finger to guide her chin up to me. I looked into her eyes before I leaned in and kissed her.

Betty- "I'm happy you're who I get to start my life with" Veronica- (smiles) "me too"

We turned off the light and cuddled into each other before we both fell sound asleep
