Chapter 23:

Aaira stood in her room, the suffocating tightness of her engagement gown making it harder and harder to breathe. Her chest rose and fell rapidly as her anxiety clawed at her. Every moment felt like an eternity as she waited for Jungkook to come and take her downstairs. She leaned against the wall, her thoughts spiraling.

Jimin’s sudden appearance had shaken her to the core. Of all the things she had prepared herself for, seeing him tonight hadn’t been on her bingo card. The thought of standing before him, exchanging vows and rings with someone else, made her stomach churn.

The faint sound of footsteps outside snapped her out of her thoughts. She turned just as the door opened, and there he was, Jungkook, dressed in a sharp black tuxedo, his presence commanding the room. His hair was perfectly styled, and a light smile played on his lips as he stepped inside.

Jungkook: “Breath taking.”

Aaira forced a small smile, but her heart was pounding too loudly for her to respond. Jungkook must have sensed her unease because his smile softened as he approached her.

Jungkook: “Are you ready?”

He asked, holding out his hand. She nodded, slipping her hand into his. The warmth of his touch steadied her, even if just a little. As they walked down the grand staircase, the sound of chatter and laughter grew louder.

The mansion’s main hall was a vision of elegance, adorned with shimmering lights and cascading flowers. Guests were gathered, their faces lit with excitement as they awaited the couple’s arrival. Jungkook guided her down the final steps, his hand never leaving hers. All eyes turned to them, and a murmur of admiration swept through the crowd. Aaira’s parents were standing near the center, their smiles wide, though her father’s eyes held a hint of concern.
