Chapter 19:

The flight to Korea was uneventful, but for Aaira, it felt like an eternity. She sat stiffly in her seat, staring out of the small window into the inky darkness of the sky. Every little sound on the plane making her jolt slightly. She glanced at Jungkook, who was seated beside her, leaning back with his eyes closed. He looked peaceful, though the occasional twitch of his brow hinted at some discomfort.

Jungkook had tried to make light of his condition earlier, cracking a few jokes about how the wheelchair made him feel old and out of place. Aaira had forced a smile, but she was far too consumed by her own thoughts to truly engage with his attempts to cheer her up. Sleep evaded her the entire flight, her mind tangled in a web of worries about the shadowy figure.

By the time the plane landed in Seoul, Aaira felt more exhausted than ever, though she hid it well as she helped Jungkook off the plane and into his wheelchair. Jungkook, on the other hand, pouted as she adjusted the footrests of the wheelchair.

Jungkook: "This is so weird,"

He muttered, half to himself, half to Aaira.

Jungkook: "I feel like I should be eighty years old, not... me."

Aaira couldn't help but chuckle softly at his expression.

Aaira: "You'll be walking soon enough, Mr. Jeon. Just bear with it for now."

Jungkook groaned dramatically, leaning back as if the very idea of being wheeled around was too much for him to handle.

Jungkook: "At least make this thing look cooler. Maybe add some flames on the sides? Or a horn?"

Aaira: "Noted,"

Aaira replied, rolling her eyes as she pushed him toward the exit. At the baggage claim, Aaira helped down the bags.

Jungkook: "By the way, Aaira. Don't worry about those bags at the hotel, at Jimin Hyung's avenue,"

He said casually.

Jungkook: "My family will send them to my house. You'll be staying there for a while, remember?"

Aaira didn't respond immediately, the reality of living under the same roof with him sinking in. Instead, she gave a curt nod and continued pushing him toward the car. Once outside, the chilly Seoul air greeted them. Aaira helped Jungkook into the back seat of the car with practice ease, despite his playful protests about not needing so much help.

Jungkook: "Seriously, Aaira, I'm fine. I could've gotten in myself,"

He said, though the faint wince as he shifted belied his words.

Aaira: "Sure you could, Mr. Jeon,"

Aaira replied with a small smile before shutting the door. The drive to Jungkook's residence was quiet. Aaira kept her focus on the road, her hands gripping the steering wheel a little too tightly.
