Chapter 2: The Realization

You were shocked by Petra's words. She sounded like she wanted to hurt you. It was like she knew about your feelings all along.

'Why would she say something like that? Does she...know?'

Just as you were about to have a brake down, the door to Hanji's office opened.

"(Y/n)? Why are you so sad? What happened? Come in."

You came into Hanji's office and felt your eyes tear up a little from the shock you experienced. Thoughts were flowing through your head like crazy, you felt a rush of panic overcome you.

"Are you crying, (Y/n)?? What happened?" Hanji looked worried.

"I-i don't know.. I just.. I bumped into Corporal Levi on my way to your office and accidentally yelled at him. He responded by calling me a brat and a shithead... And.. When I was about to knock, Petra came out of nowhere and told me about how Corporal isn't as warm towards me as I might think... Does she know about my crush? But how can she if I only told you about it...?" At this point you felt tears running down your cheeks.

"Yeah, about that... She kinda, sorta, maybe, possibly heard me when I talked about your crush on Shorty."

"WHAT?!" You felt like you were about to faint.

"I'm sorry!! I didn't know she was listening! And it's not all that bad, is it? It could have been Levi who was listening to me then."

"What the hell, Hanji? What if she tells Levi about my feelings for him?? What am I suppose to do now?!" You felt terrified.

You just wished you were eaten by a titan right then and there. The only way this situation could get any worse would be if Levi found out. But what did you expect? It was in Hanji's nature to be a loudmouth and you knew it. This would have happened anyway. But what should you do now? Pretend like Hanji was joking and you never really liked Levi or admit your feelings and face the consequences?

It was almost funny how brave you were when it came to fighting the titans but absolutely terrified to admit your feelings to the man you love.

Hanji took a deep breath and finally said "You know (Y/n), I think you need to relax for a moment and get these thoughts out of your head. I'm pretty sure Levi already knows that you want to make babies with him. It's not that hard to figure out if you turn into a tomato-face every time he looks at you." she then chuckled.

Your face was full of mixed emotions as you practically yelled at her. "I don't want to make babies with him! I don't want any of this! I told you already, I don't want to be rejected and embarrassed!"

"But do you still like him?" Hanji asked confused.

"I guess so... uh, just forget it. We'll see how things go, right now I don't want to think about it. I just wish i could get him out of my head..."

You then walked out of her office and headed to your room. When you got there, you switched to your nightwear and fell on the bed. It was quiet and you had just placed your head on a pillow. You pulled your blankets up around you and shifted so you were in a comfortable position. You closed your eyes and fell asleep in a few minutes.

--Time skip to morning--

You woke up with a slight head ache. You didn't sleep well that night and it made you feel like crap. You lifted yourself up to face the window. Your hair was a mess and as you looked on the clock you realized what time it was.

"Dammit, I'm late! I will miss the breakfast!" You quickly started to dress up and put your hair in a messy ponytail. It was to late to take a shower, you barely had any time to get into your uniform and when you did, you hurried down the stairs and into the mess hall. You tried your best to pull yourself together and not look like a mess.

When you walked inside you quickly scanned the room to see if Hanji was still there. Luckily, she was. As you walked to her you felt someone's eyes on you. You glanced to your right but this time, it wasn't Levi who was staring at you, it was Petra. She had a serous look on her face as if she was mentally strangling you. You figured she was just upset since she found out you had a crush on Levi too.

Levi on the other hand looked completely calm, sipping on his tea. You admired his unique drinking style. When you got to the table you could tell that Hanji was excited (more than usually) for some reason.

You sat down and finally said, "Go ahead, tell me what is it? You look like you might blow up any second if you don't."

"You won't believe what happened! Commander Erwin wants you in Levi's squad! Isn't that exciting?"

"What? Why me??" You were confused, why would Commander Erwin want you in the Special Operations Squad? It already has plenty of skilled soldiers.

"So, you've heard what happened in Trost District these past 5 days, right? The whole titan-shifter thing. Well basically, Eren Yeager, the titan boy himself will soon be joining us!"

"He will join the Levi squad and he will also take part in the upcoming expedition witch will serve as a sort of test run to see if we've got a shot at getting him all the way to Shiganshina District. And because of that, Commander Erwin wants more skilled soldiers to be near Eren and protect him, so I suggested you and he agreed!"

Your face went pale. You had embarrassed yourself in front of Levi, Petra hated you and possibly wanted to kill you for liking Levi and now to add to all of that you were now joining his squad.

"NO!" You shouted loudly. Everyone was now looking at you. You blushed from the amount of attention. You then turned to Hanji and whispered.

"I don't want to be in his squad, you know I act like an idiot around him and now that Petra hates me it makes it even worse. Can't they pick someone else??"

Hanji stared at you and raised an eyebrow. "But I thought you wanted to join his squad from the beginning? You said that yourself."

"But not after what happened yesterday!" You shouted. Suddenly you felt someone walk behind you and you heard a familiar voice.

"Tch. Is there a problem?"
