Author's note: Hey everyone. I hope you enjoy this chapter! If you do, please make sure to vote for my story ^^ I know that things (by things I mean the relationship with Levi) are escalating kinda slow, but that's because I don't want this story to be short. But I promise, it will come soon! ᵔᴥᵔ

When you were done unpacking, you wondered to yourself if you made the right choice when you told Petra that you didn't have feelings for Levi. You thought it might have been for the best, since Petra wants him so badly and she probably wouldn't leave you alone. If you couldn't be with Levi, you could at least try your best to please him, by showing him that you're worth something as a soldier. And this whole drama was the last thing you should be thinking about.

You went downstairs and then headed outside to be in time for training, which Petra told you about. 'She must be so pleased to know that I am not a threat to her imaginary relationship with Levi. Whatever, I will get over him and move on eventually, right? It's not like it's impossible, it'll just take some time.'

But the truth was you didn't want to move on. You haven't been attached to someone like this for the longest time. In fact, the only reason why you decided to join the Survey Corps, was because you didn't have anything else to live for. After your parents got killed you had nobody else left who cared about you. You made a few close friends while you were still a trainee, but all of them chose other regiments and you never knew what happened to them once you joined the Scouts.

-FLASHBACK-

-8 years ago, before you joined the Trainees-

"(Y/n), are you sure you want to join the Scouts? You know you could die on your very first expedition, right?" Your best friend Kayla said.

"Yeah, I'm sure of it. Nothing is going to make me reconsider this decision."

"But what about your parents? I'm sure they're great people and don't deserve t-"

"Were great people..." You cut her off.

"Oh my God, (Y/n), I'm so sorry!" She cried out.

"It's okay, It's not your fault, I never told anyone about what happened to them. And that's exactly why I want to join the Scouts, I simply don't have anyone who cares about me."

"I care about you! You're my best friend!" Kayla exclaimed.

"I mean outside the military." You looked down and placed your hands in your lap.

"I still can't comprehend, why do you want to waste your life. Why don't you join the Garrison, like me? That way we could be together and you wouldn't have to die."

"I'd rather die a meaningful death than live a meaningless life. I know I belong in the Survey Corps, becoming a Scout was always my main goal in life."

"If you say so... Promise me you'll do your best to stay alive."

"I promise."

-END OF FLASHBACK-

'I know I'm not useless, if I survived 2 years of fighting outside the walls, then I can definitely prove to Levi that I can be just as good as other squad members on the battlefield.'

When you walked outside, you saw Levi's squad already training. Levi watched you as you walked closer to your teammates.

"Hey, am I late or something?" you asked Petra.

"No, not really. We just started training a bit early."

"Oh, okay then. What do I have to do? I- I'm.. sorry if it's a stupid question, I don't-"

"Oi, (L/n)! Come over here." You heard a familiar, cold voice say.

You walked up to Levi, saluted him and said, "Good morning, Corporal! Do you need something?"

"Tch. It's afternoon, idiot. And yes, I need something. I need you to show me if you can fight, so I know that you're not as worthless as it seems. Pick a partner and prepare for a battle. And hurry up, we don't have all day." He said, arms crossed and his gaze still strong on you.

"Yes, Sir!" You said and started to look for a partner you could take on.

'Who should I pick? Petra would be fairly easy to take down, but I don't want Levi to think I can't do more than that. Oluo could be a good choice, but he is much taller than me and would have more advantage. I'm not even going to consider Eld or Gunther , those guys are like titans themselves. Should I...?'

"If you didn't hear me I will repeat - we don't have all day to wait on you so hurry the fuck up and pick your partner." Levi seemed angry and irritated.

"S-sir, will y-you be my partner?" You asked sheepishly. 'This is not going to end well...'

"Tch. Do you think a brat like you can beat me? Alright, you asked for it." He stepped closer to you. You could feel a light blush creeping onto your cheeks as he walked by. You got into your fighting position and so did he.

"On the count of three. One... Two... Three!" He started running towards you with such speed, you haven't seen before. You were dumbfounded for a brief moment but then, you quickly came back to your senses.  Everyone was now looking at both of you fight - Petra, Eld, Gunther and Oluo. Even different squad members, such as Hanji's and Mike's started watching you two. No-one had challenged Levi for the longest time so it was quite a surprise for everyone.

Levi ran up to you and threw in the first punch, directly at your face, but you leaned back so low, your head almost touched the ground. 'Matrix motherfucker' you thought as you dodged the punch. You then ran behind his back and tried to tackle him, but he swiftly turned around and grabbed your arm. He then pulled you to the ground and you fell on your back. But you weren't one to give up so easily. You hit his foot with yours, making him lose balance and fall back. Then, you shot up and tried to punch his  abdomen, but he grabbed your wrists and seconds later, you were pinned to the ground with Levi on top of you. You tried to get him off, but it was no use.

"Not bad. You aren't useless after all." He said as his grey colored eyes stared into your (E/c) ones.

You could tell he was exhausted. His face was so close to yours you could feel his hot breath, his lips were parted slightly. Your cheeks burned red with embarrassment.

"C-corporal, may I stand up now?" You asked while still gazing into his eyes.

Levi didn't hesitate to fulfill your request and stood up. He then reached out his hand to help you get up. His hair was a bit messy after the fight and you couldn't deny that he looked incredibly hot.

"Tch. You're covered in mud." He gave you a look of genuine disgust. You looked down at yourself to see that you really were filthy. But so was he.

"You're filthy too, Corporal." You chuckled.

"Tch, you brat." He began to walk away, towards the HQ, with mud all over his uniform.

"Everyone is dismissed! Enough for today, I need to get this filthy stuff off me." He said as he walked inside.

"Yes, Sir!" your teammates exclaimed in unison. You walked up to Petra, who couldn't hold back her laughter when she looked at your dirty uniform.

"Whoa (Y/n), you did great today. I never expected you to challenge our Corporal."

"Yeah, I just didn't want to seem like a spineless weakling, that's all." You said as you both walked inside the HQ.

"You should get washed up, tomorrow is a big day! We're getting a new team member. I believe his name is Eren."

"Yeah, Hanji told me about him."

You didn't really have much to talk about with Petra so you simply headed to the showers and when you were done, you went upstairs to your room. By this time it was already around 7 p.m. You were very tired, you didn't get much sleep last night and today's training was exhausting as well.

'I should go to sleep. Something tells me, tomorrow is going to be a long day...' You thought to yourself as you put on your nightwear and went to bed.
