Chapter 13: Losing Your Loved Ones

"WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT??" You shouted out to Levi.

"Remind me, what is our mission? To let Eren be swayed by whatever he's feeling at the moment? No it's not. Our squad's job is to keep the brat from getting a single scratch on him. Even if it costs our lives.." Levi said as he turned his head away from you.

You gulped but said nothing, just nodded in your mind.

"We keep going on our horses, got it?" Levi asked.

"Roger!" Petra shouted.

"How long can we keep going like this?? That thing is right on top of us!" Eren exclaimed.

Suddenly, you heard another cadet with his 3DM gear, fly closer to the Female Titan. You turned your head around just to see him get smacked against a tree by the Titan's hand.

"Another one! We could have saved him!" Eren shouted.

"Eren! Eyes on the road, keep going!" You shouted at him angrily.

"Are you telling me to leave my comrades behind??"

"Yes, that's exactly what I'm telling you! We must act as a team!" You looked at Eren as he hid his blades and raised his thumb.

"No.." You heard him mumble.

"EREN DON'T!" Petra shouted, "You promised us to only use that ability if your life is in extreme danger!" Eren glanced at her slightly, but razed his thumb even closer to his mouth.

"Eren!" You shouted.

"If you want to, do it." Levi said. "I can tell that you don't want to submit to our squad's orders. Choose, believe in yourself or believe in our squad and me."

There was a moment of silence, Eren looked at his thumb again but didn't do anything.

'Have faith, Eren...' You thought as you both exchanged worried looks.

"Dammit! I'm with you!" Eren shouted and you smiled at him. You continued rushing forward and then suddenly, you saw that you rushed by a few cadets- no, many cadets. They were positioned on the ground, trees, everywhere.

"Fire!" You heard Commander Erwin's voice. You suddenly heard dozens of loud bangs behind you. Cadets were shooting at the Female Titan from all angles, getting her to stop moving. All of you kept running forward, until the smoke was gone.

"Switch to Maneuver Gear, you guys will be off on your own for a while. Eld, you lead the squad for now. And once you're a good distance away from the Titan, hide Eren. Take my horse" Levi said as he flew back with his 3DM gear.

"See that Eren? We managed to capture the Titan and get out of this alive!" Oluo shouted.

"Don't ever underestimate the Survey Corps!" Gunther added.

"Yes Sir!" Eren shouted and smiled.

-Time Skip-

You and your teammates all hid on a tree to take a break. You could tell that Eren was uneasy about something so you decided to ask.

"Eren, what's wrong?"

"Huh? Oh, I was just thinking... that whole mission, the cannons.. I mean, I can see why Corporal wouldn't have told the new troops about it, but why wouldn't he tell you?"
