I have said that I have been in love with three women in my life. The truth is I have been in love thousands of times, and they have all meant something to me.
Every woman who has ever given me the time of day has a place in my heart. Even the ones that treated me badly. We still had some good times.
But there are three that stand apart from the rest. I loved them from the moment that I saw them. I am shallow, and I admit I loved them because of how beautiful they were.
The third was Alla Subbotina. Alla was on the first season of Love After Lockup. She was a former model that went to prison for distribution of heroin. The premise of the show was that she was getting out of prison and marrying a man that had written to her.
I never met Alla in real life, and had never even heard her voice before the show. But I was one of the people who wrote to her. I am very proud to have been a moment of her life.
I wrote her three letters. She only wrote me back once, after the first, saying that she was getting out of prison soon. I don't know if she ever read the other two letters.
I first heard of Alla in a news story about her. I saw her picture and thought she had the most beautiful eyes I had ever seen. Then I googled her name and found a picture of her smiling. I saw Heaven.
I was in love with Alla from the very start, and would have done anything for her, just to see that smile.
When she lost her battle with heroin, I lost a friend.
