"We finally meet, boss."
Namjoon's voice was a rasp, but the strength behind it was unmistakable and Jungkook's chest filled with a sudden rush of proudness. The officer had moved with the silence of a ghost, his hand wrapping around Yujin's throat with a speed that seemed almost supernatural. Her eyes went wide with shock, the gun dropping from her hand as she struggled against his iron grasp.
"You—" she choked, her voice strangled by both surprise and Namjoon's unforgiving hold. "You're not..." Her eyes widened further, the realization dawning on her that she had been outmaneuvered.
Jungkook stepped forward, his gun trembling slightly in his grip as he pressed the muzzle against the back of Yujin's head. The weight of it felt heavier than ever, but it was nothing compared to the storm of emotions raging within him. Rage, disgust, and a twinge of something he couldn't name burned through him.
But Yujin, even in her compromised position, was not one to back down. Her lips curled into a humorless grin, her defiance bleeding through despite the danger she was in. "Well, well," she croaked, her voice cracking under Namjoon's grip. "So the rumors are true, aren't they?" Her gaze darted between the two men, her expression shifting from shock to wicked amusement. "You two really are screwing each other behind everyone's back."
Jungkook's eyes widened, the air leaving his lungs in a sharp exhale. "Shut up," he snapped, his voice trembling with a mix of anger and panic.
"Oh, come on, Jungkookie," Yujin sneered, her voice taking on a mocking sing-song tone despite the pressure on her throat. "Do you think I didn't notice? All those stolen glances, the way he always jumps in to save you. It's pathetic, really. You can't even protect yourself without your big boy here to hold your hand."
"Enough!" Namjoon's voice boomed through the room, startling even Jungkook. He leaned closer to Yujin, his eyes dark and unyielding. "You're in no position to judge anyone. Not after everything you've done."
Jungkook's hand tightened around the gun, his knuckles white with rage. The words sliced through him like a serrated knife, but he held his ground, not allowing the venom to penetrate his resolve, his focus never wavering from the back of Yujin's head.
Yujin's grin faded, replaced by a flicker of fear as she met Namjoon's piercing gaze. "Oh, protective, are we?" she rasped, her bravado slipping as Namjoon's hand tightened once more.
"This isn't about you anymore," Namjoon hissed, his voice dripping with venom. "It's about what you've taken. The lives you've destroyed. And you don't get to humiliate him to save your face."
