" Naisha try this dip " Ahana forwards a bowl to her

The breakfast table brims with the warm aroma of fresh paratha and steaming hot idlis.

" Tea or coffee ?" Megha asks Naisha as she adjusts her chair beside her,

The other cousins bickering as their laughter fills the room as they chat about their plans for the day.

" Good morning, What's the menu today ?" Megha’s family bustles around the table,  greeting each other and serving themselves.

Megha's mother smiles warmly at Naisha as she passes her the bowl of yogurt, saying,

"Here you go, beta, it always tastes better with a dollop of this."

Naisha grins back, her warm hazel eyes sparkling with gratitude, and replies

"Thank you, Aunty. Your cooking is the best."

The family chattering and joking on random stuff

Everyone adores Naisha here as if she is a part of this family.

But the beautiful lovely atmosphere immediately changes when Suvarna, Rajvardhan's wife aka Megha’s aunt, enters the room.

She takes her seat at the corner of the table, her sharp eyes immediately settling on Naisha.

The look full of disgust and malice.

Everyone in the house knows the frosty nature of Suvarna, she is known for her biting tongue,

“Naisha,” she takes a sip from her cup and throws a random question  “How long are you planning to stay here? Don’t you have any shame living in others house like this?”

Naisha freezes, the fork with which she was about to put the piece of salad in her mouth pauses halfway to her mouth then it falls clattering softly against her plate.

The words are laced with so much malice, that everyone becomes silent

Megha’s expression darkens, but before she can say anything,

Naisha speaks, in a slightly trembling voice.

“Aunty , I—I don’t mean to impose. I just needed a place to stay for a while.” Her cheeks burn with embarrassment.

The words 'shame' echoes in her ears, harshly.

It wasn't just the question of her stay, which was already a sensitive topic she felt guilty about, but the cruel insinuation behind it – that there was something shameful about her being there, a burden, an imposition with no dignity.

Suvarna smirks, clearly enjoying the discomfort she has caused.

“A while? You’ve been here for months now. You have no job, no family, and yet you just take and take. When will you learn to stand on your own feet?” Her words drips with venom, and Naisha feels a sting in her eyes as tears well up.
