"Another butterscotch please!"
The shop owner looked skeptically at the frosty skinned man's face because at this point he has probably lost count on the orders he had to place on that particular table. He filled another bowl with three scoops of the flavor and took it there; pinning the man down with his worried gaze. He looked up with his large doe eyes feeling that upon himself.
"Is there a problem?"
"Are you okay?" The shop owner asked.
"Why wouldn't I be?"
"Just asking. Never mind."
The man got back to his previous place and that's when the frosty skinned man stopped chewing for the first time since he arrived; his eyes fixated at particularly nowhere as the flashback from the happenings in that morning appeared in front of him.
----------
Jungkook had passed out after seeing the light of the dawn because the whole night he had taken his time to adjust to his new bed, new room and his new house. The mattress was stinging on his back like mosquito bites and the light scattered by the closed curtains was still not the perfect shade of blue even though he picked those by himself. What sat on his shoulder most heavily was the weight of the ring on his left hand.
Even blankly staring at the piece of metal couldn't quite convince Jungkook that he was still married.
Jungkook couldn't pick the phone up whenever his parents had called him throughout the day because he was simply scared. But that wasn't the only thing that intimidated him for which he had to skip the dinner that previous night.
He didn't know what kind of inevitability he was trying to avoid by not sitting on the same dinner table as his boss where the older man had cooked everything; but the grumbling inside his stomach was getting too disturbing along with the guilt of refusing food on the face of someone who made it for him. So like an utter idiot he had gotten up to have a cup of ramen stealthily only to get caught when Taehyung had woken up to fetch a glass of water.
He hadn't said anything upon seeing Jungkook like that.
As usual, half of the ramen got disposed too; with a still hungry Jungkook returning to his bed wanting to cry his lungs out. But he didn't. Lord knows how thin the walls are in this house where he is living with his husband.
Jungkook's eyes shot open from his dream where Taehyung was feeding him the ramen he disposed by his own hands; and he saw it was past one and half hour from the time he is supposed to wake up. He had forgotten to put his alarm like an utter idiot and now he has to carry the lifelong embarrassment of sleeping through a person's; particularly his boss's whole morning routine from the other side of the wall of his room.
Did Taehyung leave already?
Jungkook tried to pique his ears and assess if anyone else was there in the house. He almost ceased his breathing on the process and when he found no source of sound, he slowly got down. Opening the door of his room with a pounding heart, he walked towards the dining cum kitchen room and stumbled onto a completely dressed up Taehyung peacefully eating his breakfast while scrolling his phone.
"Fuck..."
As soon as they made eye contact, Jungkook turned his back and leaned on the wall on the side of the entrance outside. Rubbing his face up and down, he quickly got inside his room and started applying toothpaste on his toothbrush with shaking hands; when there was a knock at his door as expected.
"Jungkook?" Taehyung called out his name from the other side.
"Yeah?" The addressed convict responded.
