Your Ex

Chapter 10

"Move slut" a guy says shoving past Tobin.

Its not even first period and that's not the first profanity to be thrown her way since the 5'6" light brunette stepped foot into school the next day. She's tried to handle it as best she could but it is slowly eating away at her.

'Where the hell is Alex' she thinks to herself when she sees all her friends.

"Hey guys have any of you seen Alex?" She asks the group once she gets to them.

"No Kelley is gone too" Hope says slightly worried.

"Maybe they are sick or uh decided to just blow off today" Ashlyn tries to rationalize.

Ali shakes her head "No they wouldn't do that especially after what happened yesterday, and if they were sick they would have texted or called one of us"

"Speaking of missing people where in the hell is Lloyd?" Hope asks.

"Oh Carli had to stop by the hospital to talk to her mom before she came to school, apparently her mom said that it was urgent" Ali answers.

The bell rings and the group disperses finding their way to each of their classes.

When Tobin walks into class there's sticky notes covering her desk, each with a different degrading word or term.

"Whore." "Slut." "Easy." And so on.

Tobin bites her lip hard wishing she had Alex and Kelley here to help her through the day.

She pulls all the sticky notes off her desk and throws them away, by the time she sits down class is just starting.

Toward the end of class Austin turns his head to look at her "So uh tell me, do you charge by the hour?" He smirks.

"What the fuck are you talking about?" Tobin snaps at him.

"Oh sorry I just figured someone as easy as you would at least charge to fuck someone" that annoying smirk still plastered on his face.

"I wouldn't sleep with you if we were the last two human beings on the planet and the human race depended on it" Tobin says as the bell rings and she stands up walking out of the class.

By lunch Tobin is fed up with all the name calling and degrading remarks people have thrown in her face.

She walks to her table and sits down seeing everyone looking pretty down.

"Hey guys, why so blue?" She asks sitting down.

"You didn't hear?" Ali asks.

"Hear what?" Tobin knits her eyebrows together.

The group all look at each other and Tobin notices Hope is missing.

"Wait where's Hope?" Tobin asks.

"Tobes....Kelley and Alex got into a car accident on the way to school this morning and they aren't doing so good" Ali says.

"W-what? No no" Tobin starts shaking her head. "No. This isn't happening right now" she stands up abruptly her chair falling behind her.

"Tobin wait" Carli says standing up along with her.

Tears begin falling down the light brunette's face as she turns sprinting out of the cafeteria just as fast if not faster than she had the day before.

Carli tells her friends to stay there as she chase's Tobin out of the cafeteria.

When Carli finally catches Tobin she's in the parking lot almost to her car tears streaming down her face from a mix of all the names she's been called and now two of her best friends are in the hospital.

"Tobin wait. You can't just leave school like that. Take a breath and talk to me" Carli says her voice soft and slightly out of breath from chasing her friend.

"Like hell I can't!" Tobin yells. "Two of my best friends are in the Emergency Room as we speak. One of them being my rock and the only God damn reason I came to school today." She begins to hyperventilate at the realization that Alex could possibly die.

She feels likes her chest is closing in and she can't stop crying and she can't breath.

She slowly drops to her knees Carli kneeling in front of her trying to calm her down.

"Tobin. Listen to me, breath okay? Take five deep breaths for me" Carli says concern lacing her words.

Tobin only nods as she takes a couple breaths.

"Everything is going to be alright Tobes." Carli says gently. "Just breath okay?"

Tobin, again, just nods her head as Carli pulls her into a hug while they sit in the parking lot of the school.

"What just happened?" Tobin asks quietly.

"You had a panic attack. I get them sometimes too" Carli answers her voice soft.

"I don't think I could handle losing them...especially not right now" Tobin says tears still falling down her face.

"Hey. Don't think like that, they are fighters, they will make it through this" Carli rubs Tobin's back gently.

Tobin just nods not wanting to say anything else.

"You know what? Fuck school it'll be here when we get back, lets go see them they should be awake they didn't have that major of head injuries" Carli says helping Tobin up and taking her to her car.

"I'll uh text the girls and tell them what we are doing" Tobin says as Carli starts driving to the hospital.
