Y/N hummed softly to herself, adjusting the curtains in her room for what felt like the hundredth time. The delicate fabric slipped between her fingers as she smoothed out the edges and carefully aligned them.

Someone always seemed to be tearing them down or shredding them to pieces. It was weird, though. Around this time, she usually ended up getting kidnapped.

"Thank god we're allies with that random chess guy..." She muttered under her breath, shaking her head at the thought. She tugged the new curtains into place, blue of course because no other color felt quite right.

And just as fate would have it, she did get kidnapped. Again.

A flash of light filled the room, followed by the strange, disorienting sensation of falling through a portal. Y/N barely had time to scream before she hit the ground with a heavy thud, groaning as she pushed herself up. Her surroundings blurred, spinning briefly before coming into focus. Where was she now?

Was she just doomed to be snatched left and right?

"Y/N L/N of Aurorion," A voice boomed.

Her head snapped up at the sound, her breath catching in her throat. Standing tall, she steadied herself as her eyes locked onto the source. A familiar figure stood before her.

"Darius," Y/N said evenly, her voice carefully controlled. "Why have you... Brought me here without warning?"

Darius stepped forward, his expression unreadable, though his presence was as imposing as ever. "Your father was a Maze Navigator, correct?"

Y/N's body stiffened at the mention of her father. "Yes," she replied, her tone guarded. After everything that had happened at the shipping company, she wasn't about to let her guard down.

Darius nodded slowly, his gaze narrowing. "Last I heard, Maze Navigators were extinct. Wiped out after aiding in the zombie infections."

Y/N crossed her arms, the fabric of her sleeves tightening under the pressure. "He was the last one," She stated firmly.

Another nod from Darius, this time slower, more deliberate. He gestured, and a hologram appeared in front of him, a shimmering image of her father standing tall. "I understand he succumbed to an illness... One caused by the maze?"

Y/N swallowed hard, her jaw tightening. The lie sat heavy on her tongue, but she forced it out. "Yes. That is correct."

Darius studied her carefully, as if weighing the truth of her words. She kept her expression neutral, refusing to let him see through her. Her father wasn't dead, though his health was fragile. But Darius didn't need to know that.

"Such a disappointment," Darius muttered, his tone laced with feigned regret. His sharp eyes met hers. "And you? Did you inherit his powers? The ability to see, tag, and locate things with precision?"

Y/N hesitated. Her mind raced with possibilities. If she lied and was caught, she'd be useless to him, perhaps even dead. But if she told the truth, she'd risk being exploited, used against her allies.

"I... I'm not sure," She finally admitted, her voice faltering just enough to seem genuine.

Darius's lips pressed into a thin line, his disappointment evident. Another gesture, another hologram flickering into view. This time, it was her mother.

"And what of your mother?" he asked, his tone deceptively casual.

Y/N inhaled deeply, willing herself to stay calm. She couldn't afford to lose her composure, not here, not now. "Dead," She said curtly, each word like a stone in her throat.
