December, 2005. Two days after Christmas. The Bronx, New York City.

Eleanor's first year at FBI's Domestic Terrorism.

Luke Alvez's grandmother turns seventy-six.

Oftentimes, from five, there were only four of them present at once. At work, there was no Luke since he was part of the Fugitives and only rarely their cases would intertwine. Outside work, there was quite frequently no Molly, now embracing the newest title obtained of a proud housewife, a role that thus far she's weirdly embraced uncriticizingly. Thus far.

The Alvez family were lucky. Why? There were so many of them, so tight-knit, that anytime they would come together, the rooms were suddenly far too small to accommodate all of them at once. That was the case of the current celebration, Luke's abuela being a strong character that had breached into everyone's lives, at first through Luke's stories, then again when in New York, they would sometimes catch a glimpse of her, until suddenly they were all invited to her rowdy birthday party.

For Eleanor, everything felt like a whirlwind. She had been apart of this team for about nine months and had known Luke for eight, and even though she was home, in New York, she couldn't not feel strange to the idea of stepping into an unfamiliar household that she's only been informally invited to.

On the opposite side of the backseat of the car confidently driven by Luke through the well-known streets of the neighborhood he grew up in, there sat Alex, just as quiet as she was. For him, his current state of mind was very much characteristic. Alex didn't talk much. Perhaps he only talked when he had something to say and those words were always carefully thought. This might be the reason why Alex was always right. Why he was the voice of reason. Of course, he didn't share the same sense of unbelonging that Eleanor felt, as he had often been to Luke's family house and had met his family again and again and again. After all, they were friends since the beginning. Since the Army. Since there were only three: himself, Luke and Phil.

Oh and Phil must have hated to miss such event!

Cass called it dibs on the front seat once again. He had always debated that he was the proud possessor of the greatest playlist of all times, carefully crafted and transferred to a CD he carried along regularly. Despite the first impression of his total carefreeness, Cass has never been to Luke's house before either. He didn't know, nor did he care of how they, or mostly him, have succeeded in getting an invite to such event. Truthfully, he was aching for a reason not to go home for winter holidays. Therefore, he was not only about to celebrate a woman-he's-never-met's seventy-six birthday, but also he will crash at another-family-he's-never-met's New Years' for about a week. All thanks to Eleanor. Last year, it was The Christmas with the Somerville's in Louisiana. The year before that, he spent the holidays with Molly, her friends from home and her awesome dad in Montana and actually went skiing the whole trip with them. Oh, he desperately needs more friends! Perhaps Christmas of 2006 with the Alvez's doesn't sound too bad... Unless Miles has other plans for the team and they have to work for the holidays. That would secretly be a blessing for Cass!
